Paramount+ released the official Dreaming of a Freaking Fairy Tale trailer and poster ahead of the drama’s September 26, 2024 streaming debut. All 10 episodes of the South Korean series with the catchy title will drop at once.

“In Dreaming of a Freaking Fairy Tale, Shin Jae-rim dreams of becoming a modern-day Cinderella and trading her current boring life for one of luxury and leisure. But landing her Prince Cha-min isn’t easy—not only is Moon Cha-min her boss, but he’s also engaged to another woman,” reads Paramount+’s synopsis. “Can Jae-rim find love with the man of her dreams…or will she discover that the true path to happiness is found within herself?”

The original series was created by television screenwriter Baek Mi-kyoung whose resume includes Strong Girl Bong-Soon, The Lady In Dignity, and Mine. Yu-ja wrote the drama and Kim Min-kyeong directed.

Paramount+ has unveiled three new Korean TV shows which it will launch in selected international territories including North America, the U.K. and parts of continental Europe.

The announcement was made on Wednesday at the Apos convention in Indonesia, operated by Media Partners Asia, by Catherine Park, Paramount’s senior VP and head of streaming & regional lead, Asia, and Yang Si-kwon, head of content at TVing.

The three new titles “Dongjae, The Good Or The Bastard,” “Dreaming Of Cinde Fxxxing Rella” and “Pyramid Game” bring to seven the total number committed by Paramount+ and Korean streaming service TVing as part of Paramount’s global partnership with leading entertainment company Cj Enm.

Korean production and distribution company Sll is riding high on the current box office success of “The Roundup: No Way Out,” the only local film this year to sell more than 10 million tickets.

In the larger TV production division, it is breathing a sigh of relief with the successes of “Doctor Cha” and “The Good Bad Mother,” shows which have achieved huge local ratings and placed in Netflix’s Global non-English Top 10 charts.

For the company, which rebranded last year from Jtbc Studio, and which acquired U.S. producer wiip, the renewed popularity of its shows represents something of a rebound after “the underperformance of Jtbc dramas in 2022.”

Now the challenge is to keep things fresh and original, while producing the high volumes of Korean content demanded by clients and frenemies that include Netflix, Prime Video and TVing — the Korean streaming platform in which Jtbc is a junior partner behind Cj Enm and Naver.

Strong Woman Do Bong Soon is one of the most beloved romance K-dramas in history. It was the perfect combination of sweet romance, CEO/employee, and a bit of a mystery thriller. Korean media conglomerate, Cj Enm Tuesday announced the launch of a new production arm. It is expected to focus on producing content for exclusively streaming platforms in Korea and overseas.

The unit, named Cj Enm Studios, will be the group’s third TV production hub after drama production powerhouse Studio Dragon and U.S.-based premium global content firm, Endeavor Content, acquired earlier this year.

Cj Enm also controls the Tving streaming platform that sees itself as a challenger to Netflix within Korea and which also has ambitions to ride the Korean wave and build a significant overseas presence. Tving is seeking exclusive content rights. It recently increased its target for original shows to between 40 and 50 titles for 2022.
