This movie is based on a real case led by the Inspector-General of Police (North Zone) S. R. Jangid and the then DIG Viluppuram Range Sanjay Arora in 2005, Tamil Nadu.
The Fingerprint Expert Dhananjchezhiyan acts as Fingerprint Expert in this movie also.
Director H. Vinoth had the idea for a movie based on the Operation Bawaria case a long time ago, but had forgotten about it while working on his debut film, Sathuranga Vettai (2014). One day, while buying food, he noticed that his meal was packaged in a newspaper with a news clipping about the same case. This coincidence motivated Vinoth to rework his initial idea into a full script.
The film was shot in some extremely hot places such as Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and Madhya Pradesh. As a result, a lot of the crew fell sick while filming due to dehydration.
The introduction on the history of criminal tribes in India is based from the "Moon gazer" chapter from the book Khaki Files written by Neeraj Kumar, former Commissioner of police, Delhi.
