Andy Serkis Talks Knull MCU Return (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Whenever there is talk of a mo-cap character, Andy Serkis is always mentioned. Despite not being from the technology industry, Serkis is still a motion capture pioneer. He has played roles in The Jungle Book’s Baloo, King Kong, Supreme Leader Snoke in Star Wars, Caesar in Planet of the Apes, and Gollum in the Lord of the Rings and Hobbit film trilogies.
After his directorial work on Venom: Let There Be Carnage and his portrayal of Ulysses Klaue in the MCU, Serkis has returned to Marvel in Venom: The Last Dance. In typical Serkis fashion, he took on the role of a non-human character. This time, he portrayed Knull, the main antagonist of the movie. Fans now wonder whether Knull will eventually enter the MCU, and the actor has reacted to it.

Venom: The Last Dance revolves around Eddie Brock and his Symbiote attempting to stop Knull from escaping his prison on Klyntar. He requires their Codex to do so, and that's destroyed when Venom seemingly sacrifices himself.
The Xenophage are also defeated and the King in Black is left trapped but awake and eager to take his revenge. Venom: Let There Be Carnage director Andy Serkis voices the villain but reveals he was brought in relatively late in the day to help bring Knull to life.
Talking to Screen Rant at Fan Expo San Francisco 2024 about his future as the character, the actor and filmmaker said, "Well, that's also very interesting. I really, genuinely have no idea. It was very much, 'Can you come in?' It was quite last minute, actually. 'Can you come in and do the voice for Knull?'"

Venom: The Last Dance Box Office (Worldwide): 6th Weekend Update ( Photo Credit – YouTube )
Venom: The Last Dance experienced the impact of new releases in the US and has also slowed down at the global box office. Venom 3 is, anyway, the weakest in the franchise, and facing such big releases at the cinemas has further negatively impacted its overall performance. However, it got a few days before the big three dropped—Wicked, Moana 2, and Gladiator II. Scroll below for the film’s latest box office update.
It was directed by Kelly Marcel, who was also part of the previous two films. Marcel was involved with the film writing process. Even though it is not earning as much as the first film, it has not suffered a tragic fate like Joker 2. The film failed miserably and is one of the biggest box office disappointments of the year.

The folks at the House of Mouse have a lot to celebrate this year, with them being able to lay claim to three of the highest-grossing movies of 2024. This summer, they had back-to-back smashes with Inside Out 2 and Deadpool & Wolverine, and now Moana 2 just set a Thanksgiving record, making a jaw-dropping $135.5 million and $221 million over the five-day holiday according to Deadline. Yowza. That’s a crazy number for a movie that was retrofitted from a streaming series into a feature film and quite a turnaround for a company that was in the dog house in 2023 following a series of pricey flops.
Our box office predictions were way off for Moana 2, which just grew and grew as the weekend went on. What’s doubly impressive is the fact that its success didn’t suck up all the air at the box office, with Universal’s Wicked having stellar holdover business,...

Changes Tom Hardy wanted in Venom: The Last Dance ( Photo Credit – Instagram )
When Venom: The Last Dance hits theaters, it’ll wrap up a trilogy of films that boldly ventured into the Spider-Man universe but without Spider-Man. Sony’s strategy has opened the door to some wild, offbeat stories, from Dakota Johnson’s Madame Web to Morbius, doing its own thing. But Tom Hardy’s portrayal of the chaotic antihero, Venom, has truly defined this franchise. As Hardy revealed, the biggest shock for fans might be the film’s unexpected technical twist: bringing Venom into the daylight.
It might sound simple, but as Hardy shared with CinemaBlend, getting the symbiote into the sunlight posed a significant challenge. “One of the challenges in this movie was that we wanted to see Venom during the daylight,” Hardy explained. “It’s a huge exposure point for Venom. At nighttime, you can technically hide...

In Venom: Let There Be Carnage's post-credits scene, Eddie Brock was pulled to Earth-616 where his alien suit immediately took great interest in a news report about Spider-Man.
The events of Spider-Man: No Way Home revealed that Doctor Strange's botched spell - courtesy of Peter Parker's constant input - had started pulling everyone who knows the wall-crawler's secret identity into the Sacred Timeline. That explained Venom's unexpected arrival on Earth-616, though he never joined the final battle and instead chose to remain in Mexico.
That was confirmed by Spider-Man: No Way Home's stinger, with Eddie sent back home in the same manner as the Spider-Men and Sinister Six Five.
Venom: The Last Dance opens by recreating the 2021 movie's post-credits scene as the Lethal Protector learns about Iron Man and Thanos. However, when he returns home this time, the glowing effects from Spider-Man: No Way Home are replaced...

Venom is a wild card. He always has been in the pages of Marvel Comics, but that has rung even truer since he has been headlining his own movie franchise. He's unexpected, unpredictable, and completely unwilling to do anything but surprise us. And he does it, time and time again.
Sony's Venom movies aren't exactly critical masterpieces (all three have been negatively-received by critics) but they are audience sensations, with fans typically responding well to them. They know they aren't high art, but they are equally aware of the fact that the Tom Hardy-led movies are good old-fashioned entertainment. And in that department, nobody does it quite like Venom, promising the most outlandish and off-the-wall adventures you can imagine and, for the most part, delivering on that promise.
The third installment of the franchise, Venom: The Last Dance, was released in movie theaters this October and it (seemingly...

Five years ago, in 2019, Sony announced Kraven The Hunter and Madame Web as two new entries into their Spider-Man Movies Without Spider-Man Universe. Naturally, everyone thought both ideas were weird. Personally, I was willing to give the universe a chance because I thought they were playing coy about Spider-Man and that he'd obviously show up eventually. Boy was I wrong.
Since the announcement of Kraven The Hunter, Sony has seen its Spider-Villain films either completely flop or have very mild success. Venom: Let There Be Carnage, received mostly negative reviews but made Sony some money. Then, the notorious Morbius was released and turned into a meme so severely, that the internet hilariously tricked Sony into rereleasing it. Madame Web, this year, barely grossed one hundred million and was panned by everyone. Venom: The Last Dance, stands at nearly 440 million dollars at the box office and the reaction from fans and critics has been mixed.

Venom: The Last Dance hasn't found anywhere near the same level of success as Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage, though Sony Pictures is likely happy enough with the threequel after delivering back-to-back Ssu flops with Morbius and Madame Web (according to early tracking, Kraven the Hunter could be next).
Despite facing stiff competition from Wicked and Gladiator II both at home and overseas, Venom: The Last Dance reached $456.4 million at the worldwide box office this weekend to become the tenth highest-grossing movie of 2024.
It pushes Beetlejuice Beetlejuice off the list, and sits behind three Chinese movies along with Kung Fu Panda 4 ($549.2 million), Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire ($571.8 million), Dune: Part Two ($714.4 million), Despicable Me 4 ($968.6 million), Deadpool & Wolverine ($1.34 billion) and Inside Out 2 ($1.7 billion).
It's a good result, albeit one that shows theaters are still struggling to bounce back after the pandemic.

Sony’s Spider-Man Universe hasn’t been faring too well since teaming up with the MCU. Don’t get me wrong, Spider-Man’s standalone movies within the MCU have been an absolute triumph, swinging from one spectacular hit to the next. But let’s be honest, Sony’s left holding the bag of Spidey villains, and while Venom has been a surprisingly successful antihero, the rest hasn’t exactly made the leap from potential to profitable.

A new press release from Sony for Spider-Man 4 may have spoiled a highly anticipated crossover between Tom Holland's Spider-Man & Tom Hardy's Venom.
Sony Pictures has been itching to have a crossover between Spider-Man and Venom for nearly a decade, with the post-credits scene of Venom: Let There Be Carnage being their biggest push for it. Unfortunately for some fans and fortunately for others, Marvel Studios seemed to veto the idea.
As soon as it was teased in the Venom sequel, the prospect of a crossover was ripped away in the post-credit scene from Spider-Man: No Way Home. However, that doesn't mean that Sony Pictures has stopped trying.

Venom: The Last Dance featured the live-action debut of the King in Black and God of the Symbiotes, Knull. Played by Andy Serkis, the big bad sent his Xenophage to Earth in a bid to retrieve Eddie Brock and Venom's Codex so he could be freed from his prison on Klyntar.
It didn't work out for the villain but the movie ended with a mid-credits scene driving home what a threat Knull could still be to the universe should he escape.
Now, Karl Lindberg has shared his designs for Knull, explaining, "Worked directly with Writer/Director Kelly Marcel to design this creepy villain. Love how he came out in the movie."
We'd argue that this version is far more terrifying than the one briefly glimpsed in Venom: The Last Dance and you'll notice that Lindberg found a way to incorporate that iconic logo on Knull's chest (we're still not...

Heading back to the Colosseum 24 years after Best Picture Oscar winner Gladiator reinvented the swords and sandals genre, this sequel was No. 1 in major markets. It performed best in the UK with a No. 1 launch of $11.4M at 722 locations.
Next up was France at $10.3M from 729 sites. Spain grossed $5.6M from 411, Australia delivered $4.9M at 353, and Mexico chimed in with $4.7M from 922.

Venom: The Last Dance Box Office (North America): 4th Friday Update (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Although Venom: The Last Dance started off slowly, it has managed to stay at the top of the domestic box office chart since its release. It has now experienced a significant drop from last week owing to the release of Red One. It might experience a harsher dip and lose theatres next Friday when Gladiator II and Wicked Part 1 arrive at the theatres. Scroll below for the deets.
Gladiator II has been released in some foreign regions, including Italy, the UK, and Korea. The movie has crushed all expectations in the UK with its impressive opening day number. Ridley Scott’s film registered the fourth biggest opening day in the UK in 2024. This is expected to have a positive impact on the film’s box office in North America. Although Venom: The Last Dance opened somewhat lower at the box office than expected, the sequel has managed to stay on top for the last three weeks and recently crossed a major milestone. The film has sped past the $400 million mark with a $405.5 million worldwide take. That works out to $118.5 million domestically and $287 million internationally, with all three films generating a total of $1.7 billion.
The first Venom grossed $856.1 million during its theatrical run, while Venom: Let There Be Carnage grossed $506.8 million. At this rate, Venom: The Last Dance could overtake Let There Be Carnage but won’t come close to the first movie.
Tom Hardy returns as Eddie Brock/Venom alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor, Juno Temple, Rhys Ifans, Peggy Lu, Alanna Ubach, and Stephen Graham. The Last Dance finds Eddie and Venom on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced...

In a new milestone, Sony’s Venom: The Last Dance has waltzed past the four-century mark globally, now with $405.5M through Tuesday. Breaking that down, the Tom Hardy-starrer has grossed $118.5M domestically and $287M at the international box office since opening late last month. This brings the franchise total to $1.7B so far.
The Marvel symbiote threequel is currently the No. 8 movie of the year worldwide, and is coming off of its third straight weekend at the top of the domestic and offshore box office. Despite a lower-than-hoped-for North America opening across the October 25 frame, this $120M-budgeted Kelly Marcel-directed entry (which includes Tsg as a co-financier for a third) ended up showing substantial domestic holds.

It's the superheroes' world; we're just living in it. At least that is what the next few years are going to feel like as we once again have an abundance of Marvel and DC films set to make their mark on the box office. Marvel Studios are continuing to expand its ever-growing Marvel Cinematic Universe while James Gunn and Peter Safran look to launch the DC Universe with the Man of Steel and the Girl of Steel.
Over the years, comic book movies have helped to spearhead the contemporary must-see movie trend. Even though many factors have led to an overall declining box office, superhero movies are continuously fighting to leave their cinematic mark and many of our favorite heroes have had a positive impact at movie theaters in recent years.

Venom 3’s box office performance and its potential impact on Sony’s next Spider-Man Universe movie, Kraven the Hunter(Photo Credit – Instagram/Facebook)
As Sony’s one more Marvel movie remains to grace our screens in 2024, the recent release of Venom: The Last Dance could be a significant indicator of how the studio’s next film fare at the box office. Since the release of Venom in 2018, Sony Spider-Man Universe had its ups and downs. While Venom had established quite a good fanbase, none of Sony’s other superhero films, like Madame Web and Morbius, failed to impress the fans. But Venom remains the one big win in the live-action universe so far.
As Venom 3 marks the end of Tom Hardy’s trilogy, Sony has one last chapter in 2024, Kraven the Hunter, starring Aaron Taylor-Johnson. While it’s tough to say if Kraven will deliver on the promise that keeps...

When Venom: The Last Dance opened in North America far below initial expectations - with a disappointing $51 million - it looked like Sony Pictures might have another box office flop on its hands.
Morbius and Madame Web were both subjects of ridicule and lost a lot of good faith for a studio that's not exactly known for making quality comic book movies when Marvel Studios isn't involved.
However, since opening in theaters last month, Venom: The Last Dance has continued to exceed expectations. In fact, it's now crossed $400 million at the worldwide box office. As things stand, it will end up making more than Venom: Let There Be Carnage's $503 million, a terrific result considering it only cost $120 million to produce.
In fact, with a reported total production cost of $340 million across the Venom trilogy, this series will end up having made upwards of $1.8 billion in box office revenue for Sony Pictures.

The Ssu (Sony's Spider-Man Universe) kicked off in 2018 with the release of Venom. While the movie drew mixed reviews from fans and critics, it was a box office hit with over $850 million worldwide.
Venom: Let There Be Carnage followed three years later and, despite being released at a time when people were reluctant to return to theaters after the pandemic, the sequel made a respectable $500 million by the end of its run.
What followed were considerably less successful movies as Morbius and Madame Web both bombed with $167.5 million and $100.5 million, respectively.
This weekend, Venom: The Last Dance reached $394 million worldwide on track to an eventual $500 million haul. While that's not a spectacular result, it's more than enough to ensure the threequel turns a profit thanks to a modest $120 million production budget.
Courtesy of the movie's surprise success, Sony's Spider-Man Universe has reached $2 billion worldwide, a huge box office benchmark.

Venom: The Last Dance is proving to have stronger legs at the box office despite the disappointing debut at the US box office. “Venom: The Last Dance” (Sony) was the default #1 with a $16.2 million gross. That’s an uninspiring number for the top spot, but the threequel now stands at $394 million worldwide and predecessor “Venom: Let There Be Carnage” totaled $507 million. “Dance” could do the same.
The modestly budgeted “Heretic” (A24) and “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” (Lionsgate) are battling for a #2 slot that won’t be certain until Sunday’s actuals come in. Both did around $11 million, a bit over projections.
However, the most noteworthy aspect of the box office on this post-election weekend is that the top 20 is so wildly eclectic that it’s quite possible even the most committed cinematic completist will never see them all.
That’s all the more strange with Veteran’s Day on Monday, making this a four-day weekend for many. Usually that encourages major studios to place their top films, but studios held back due...

Venom: The Last Dance Box Office (North America): Hits $100M (Photo Credit – Instagram)
Crossing important milestones for films is important as it lifts up the spirits of the people involved with them. Now, Venom: The Last Dance has crossed its first major milestone in the domestic market. The film is slightly slower in North America compared to its run in the international markets. Scroll below for the latest box office deets of Venom 3.
It is the sequel to the 2021 movie Let There Be Carnage and the third film in the Venom trilogy. The first film, released in 2018, was a commercial success and the highest-grossing film in the franchise. The threequel is lagging behind its predecessors in debut weekend numbers. However, it is doing better than Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker: Folie a Deux. The movie has only earned $204.75 million at the worldwide box office.

The major Hollywood studios skirted this weekend and held off on new releases, a decision that likely hedged against an uncertain national mood following the presidential election. Their absence is others’ gain though, as A24’s tricky thriller “Heretic” and Lionsgate’s seasonal play “The Best Christmas Pageant Ever” each look to make a solid impression in their opening weekends.
But it’s Sony’s “Venom: The Last Dance” that continues to stay on top of domestic charts. After an underwhelming opening weekend, the “Spider-Man” spin-off has been putting up solid holds, turning in another one here. “The Last Dance” added $3.9 million on Friday, on its way to about $14 million for its third weekend of release. It has now notched $100 million in North America and will pass “Alien: Romulus” ($105 million), “If” ($111 million) and “Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire” ($113 million) over the next few days to become the 14th-highest-grossing domestic release of the year.

Love or hate Sony Pictures' Lethal Protector, Venom: The Last Dance will remain at #1 for a third weekend in a row heading into Veterans Day.
According to Deadline, the Marvel movie starring Tom Hardy is expected to earn $14 million this weekend after grossing an estimated $3.6 million on Friday. Of note is the fact this is the first time a Venom movie has remained in the top spot for three weekends.
While it's true The Last Dance is the only big movie in theaters (and that the threequel opened well behind Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage), it will be closing in on $113 million by Sunday and has been a much bigger hit overseas.

When the final trailer for Venom: The Last Dance was released, Sony Pictures dropped a bombshell by revealing a first look at Knull, God of the Symbiotes. From there, it took very little time for rumours to start swirling about Marvel Studios' Spider-Man 4 plans.
For those of you who haven't been keeping up, it's been widely reported that Tom Holland's Peter Parker will team up with Tom Hardy's Eddie Brock to battle the King in Black on Earth-616. In the wake of Avengers: Doomsday, that sort of Multiversal adventure does make sense but the Venom threequel arguably did nothing to set the stage for such a clash.
Even stranger is the fact Venom briefly visited Earth-616 in Venom: Let There Be Carnage, only to be sent home without ever meeting the web-slinger in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Then, in Venom: The Last Dance, his trip to an...

A24 isn’t done scaring up dollars at the box office as the studio’s horror thriller, Heretic, looks to convert $10M during the film’s box-office launch. Analysts see the chilling feature starring Hugh Grant at $8-10M from 3,200 cinemas, especially if audiences still feel spooky after the Halloween holiday. In contrast, Lionsgate’s faith-based family film The Best Christmas Pageant Ever could pull a cheerful $6 million to $8 million during its debut from 3,000 theaters.
While new films are typically the cat’s pajamas at the box office, analysts predict Sony’s Venom: The Last Dance will take another bite out of the top spot. The symbiotic sequel could drop 40% to 50% from the weekend before, resulting in $13 million to $15 million in upcoming ticket sales. Venom: The Last Dance is holding onto screens after earning $318M worldwide, compared to 2018’s Venom ($856M) and 2021’s Venom: Let There Be Carnage ($506M). The...

As we first told you earlier today, those looking to escape the U.S. Election drama flocked to theaters yesterday evening to take advantage of discounted ticket prices.
That was very good news for Sony Pictures' Venom: The Last Dance as the threequel grossed an impressive $3.4 million during its second Tuesday. That's a record-breaking 26.8% decline; Venom dropped by -54.6% ($3.7 million) and Venom: Let There Be Carnage by -61% ($2.5 million).
With a $95.3 million haul in North America, Venom: The Last Dance is eyeing a domestic box office run of $150 million. While it's likely to end its run with less than its predecessors, the movie - made for a modest $120 million - should turn a tidy profit.
With rumours swirling about an Agent Venom movie (you can learn more about the character here), Sony is bound to find a way to continue this franchise...with or without Tom Hardy.

Netflix’s latest sci-fi horror hit, Time Cut, tells the story of Lucy (played by Outer Banks star Madison Bailey), a high school student and hobby inventor who accidentally travels back to 2003. She tries to save her older sister Summer (played by Ginny & Georgia‘s Antonia Gentry) from being killed by a masked serial killer.
According to Netflix, the movie racked up over 22 million views last week after its October 30 release. It’s now in the streamer’s top 10 list, beating out the new Sam Raimi-produced horror film Don’t Move and the Marvel sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
On Rotten Tomatoes, though, the movie isn’t doing as well, with a critics’ score of just 26%. Decider’s review says “Time Cut consists of piles of period-specific references sans humor, heavy drama without depth, and characters without much going on in their interior lives.”

Venom: The Last Dance has arrived and there has been a lot of theories and opinions about the future of the Venom character and the Sony Pictures universe he belongs to as well. While there have been suggestions from Tom Hardy himself that, despite The Last Dance being billed as the final Venom film, he's not done with the character of Venom (and that there's still so much to do with the Venom character that hasn't yet been explored on film).
However, for the purposes of this review, I'm going to do a review on the last film, plain and simple, and leave the theorizing to a future article or two So, let's tango through the chaotic and confused world of Venom: The Last Dance. Beware of massive spoilers!

Sony Pictures has never released "Art of the Film" books for the Venom movies, a shame when we're sure there are heaps of awesome designs we've yet to see for both the title character and the likes of Carnage and She-Venom.
On the plus side, a couple of the artists who worked on Venom: The Last Dance have shared their work on ArtStation. Valentin Petrov posted a badass shot of the Lethal Protector riding a motorcycle through Area 51 as the Xenophage chased him down.
This was undoubtedly one of the Venom franchise's best action sequences and a fun callback to Eddie Brock's love of his bike in both the first movie and Venom: Let There Be Carnage.
Karl Lindberg, meanwhile, has shared a bunch of his designs, including Venom Horse, Venom Frog, and the monstrous Xenophage. There's plenty more to be found on his profile, so we'd suggest checking that out here.

The best thing about Kevin Feige’s Marvel is the end-credit scenes. They are almost always so juicy that you have no other option but to wait impatiently for the next film. Like how Thor: Ragnarok set the entire scene for the impending doom called Thanos, Marvel Studios knows how to keep their audience begging for more. However, where there are hits, there will be misses, and a great example of a “miss” is the whole Spider-Man and Venom debacle that happened.

After Venom: Let There Be Carnage, we were pretty stoked that the time for a Spider-Man and Venom face-off was closer than expected. Of course, we know better now. Despite a few good years having been passed since the letdown, we fans have not gotten over the iconic rivalry that was robbed from us!

It was a pretty darn quiet weekend at the box office as most studios seemingly wanted to either A) avoid competing with the election or B) wait for greener postures offered by the upcoming Thanksgiving holiday window. Either way, it created a situation where Sony's "Venom: The Last Dance" was easily able to top the charts again with a relatively solid $26.1 million estimated second weekend haul. That's good for the studio in the short run. In the long run? It presents Sony with a quandary that they're probably going to need to address sooner rather than later.
As of this writing, director Kelly Marcel's "The Last Dance" has pulled in $90 million domestically to go with an outsized $227 million internationally for a running total of $317 million worldwide. After two weekends in theaters, that's not bad for a movie with a reasonable $120 million budget. "Reasonable" is a relative term in this arena,...

Venom: The Last Dance Exceeds Expectations During Second Weekend As It Passes $300 Million Worldwide
Venom: The Last Dance surprised box office experts last weekend by underperforming with a disappointing $51 million opening weekend.
The threequel had a better time of it overseas but was projected to plummet during its second weekend in North America with only $19 million. Instead, it's overperformed thanks to a solid $26.1 million; to put that number into context, this is a drop of only -48.8%, a result Sony Pictures must be overjoyed with.
Last week, Venom: The Last Dance was being compared to movies like The Marvels and The Flash, but those dipped by -78.1% and -72.5%, respectively, during their second weekends in theaters.
It's even beaten 2018's Venom (-64.7%) and 2021's Venom: Let There Be Carnage (-56.4%). Now, this movie has reached $90 million and is eying a North American run of $140 million - $150 million.
News overseas is even more positive as Venom: The Last Dance has crossed $200 million at the international...

Venom: The Last Dance isn't doing, like, Deadpool numbers, but it made enough to remain on top of the box office for the second weekend in a row. And it certainly made enough to dwarf Robert Zemeckis' Here, the sentimental experiment of a film that reunites him with his Forrest Gump stars.
