Let’s get the awkwardness out of the way first, shall we? The answer is yes, it definitely Was a throw. No further questions, thank you.
Mae Martin’s Taskmaster performance has been solid gold so far, from the hilarious #throwgate controversy in the drumming challenge to teaching us how to play the double bass with your toes, and introducing an excellent new way of pronouncing the word “humiliated”.
If you thought all that was impressive, just wait until you discover this award-winning Canadian comedian’s other work (spoiler alert: it’s very very good):
Mae Martin’s TV Comedy Career Actually Started 20 Years Ago
An adorably geeky 16-year-old Mae appeared on Canadian award show Cream of Comedy back in 2003 after becoming the youngest ever nominee for the show’s prize. They didn’t win, but their excellent Buffy The Vampire Slayer-themed set was a good sign of things to come.

Mae Martin is getting back into business with Netflix.
The Canadian breakout star of the streamer’s Feel Good comedy has received a limited series order for Tall Pines, a mystery thriller which Martin will star in and showrun along with Ryan Scott.
Tall Pines, also created and executive produced by Martin, will be set in a bucolic, yet sinister town that explores the insidious underbelly of the “troubled teen industry,” and the eternal struggle between one generation and the next.
Eight episodes of Tall Pines have been ordered by Netflix Canada and will be produced by Sphere Media and Objective Fiction, which also made Feel Good for Netflix. Martin created and starred in Feel Good, the semi-autobiographical comedy that was originally commissioned by Channel 4.
Following an impressive critical response, Netflix renewed the comedy for a second and final season. Besides another comedy special set to debut on the streamer this year,...

Amy Schumer has a new comedy special coming to Netflix. It’s called Growing, because Schumer is super pregnant, and you can get a sneak peek at how she is dealing with that in the trailer for her special. I generally think Schumer is pretty okay, but I am excited for this one because pregnancy is a beautiful, magical, disgusting experience. It is so gross, you guys. I have gone through it twice, and you don’t even want to know. Anyway, my point is that pregnancy lends itself well to comedy and horror, so I have enjoyed Netflix’s recent spate of giving specials to pregnant stand ups (check out Ali Wong and the Ellie Taylor episode of Comedians of the World...

The holidays might be over, but Netflix has a quick fix for the back-to-work blues. Sing along to your favorite Beatles songs in “Across the Universe” or laugh along with the Joker as he tries to thwart Batman in “The Dark Knight” when both arrive to the streaming platform next month.
A couple classics are set to arrive as well — meet a bloodthirsty bunny and a not-dead prince in “Monty Python and the Holy Grail,” and revisit the strange events of “Pulp Fiction.” Among the list of Netflix originals coming is stand-up smorgasbord “Comedians of the World,” featuring Nicole Byer, Chris D’Elia, and Neal Brennan, along with the second season of “Friends From College” and the third season of “A Series of Unfortunate Events” starring Neil Patrick Harris as Count Olaf. “The Incredibles 2” will wrap up the month of releases, dropping Jan. 30.
