Though Wes Anderson has only made two fully stop-motion animated feature films — “Fantastic Mr. Fox” and “Isle of Dogs” — almost all of his films dating as far back as “The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou” have featured some element of animation. Whether it be a full sequence designed to look like classic French bandes dessinées in “The French Dispatch” or the quirky alien featured in “Asteroid City,” Anderson has come to love animation despite not having any initial interest in it. As such, he was invited to take part in a masterclass held at last year’s Annecy International Animation Film Festival in France, parts of which were recently published in The Hollywood Reporter.
“It’s a sort of giant, slightly overwhelming thing,” Anderson said of the practice of animation, particularly stop-motion, “but it’s very fun.”

From Jon Hamm to Elisabeth Moss, the Mad Men characters are played by immensely talented actors playing deeply complex characters. Almost every major character is involved in extramarital affairs, amoral backroom dealings, and the relentless spread of secondhand smoke. Focusing on the unscrupulous executives of a New York advertising firm in the 1960s, Mad Men is subversively action-free. Whereas shows like The Sopranos relied on mob murders to keep the audience invested, Mad Men had to grip viewers with its characters and their interpersonal conflicts alone.
Throughout seven critically acclaimed seasons, the cast of Mad Men collectively won two Screen Actors Guild Awards for Outstanding Performance by an Ensemble in a Drama Series. Many of Mad Men’s cast members received Emmy and Golden Globe nominations for their performances, and some of them even took home trophies. The writers created a company full of rich, three-dimensional human beings, and the cast brought them to life.

Adrien Brody recalls how one of his collaborations with acclaimed director Peter Jackson saw him earn praise for his driving skills in a tense, tightly-packed shoot for a stunt. The actor is recognizable from his roles in Predators, See How They Run, as well as his frequent collaborations with Wes Anderson for The Darjeeling Limited, Fantastic Mr. Fox, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The French Dispatch, and Asteroid City. Brody recently starred in The Brutalist, a period drama focused on a Jewish architect and Holocaust survivor trying to achieve the American Dream.
After starting his career working on dark and horrific comedies, Jackson's 1994 biographical drama Heavenly Creatures launched the director into wider recognition in Hollywood. In 1997, the director embarked on a once-thought-impossible journey to adapt The Lord of the Rings to the big screen, producing the acclaimed trilogy in the late '90s and early 2000s before returning to The Hobbit trilogy throughout the 2010s.

Timothee Chalamet has quickly emerged as one of the more unique Hollywood leading men in recent years. With his lanky frame, brooding vigor and deeply felt sensitivity, the young man has become one of the most notable stars of his generation. His career began in TV movies and series, with recurring roles on such shows as “Homeland” and “Royal Pains.” He made his film debut in the Jason Reitman film “Men, Women & Children,” in a relatively minor part. Those smaller roles continued through 2016 in films like “Interstellar” and “The Adderall Diaries,” playing younger versions of principal characters.
While Chalamet had a handful of substantial roles in indie movies, like 2016’s “Miss Julie,” everything changed the following year with the release of “Call Me by Your Name.” The actor’s sensitive portrayal of a 17-year-old finding his first great love garnered universal praise and landed him an Oscar nomination for Best Actor.

Adrien Brody is having something of a renaissance. Well, at least in the larger public eye, he is. An Oscar winner for “The Pianist” two decades ago, that moment spurred roles in blockbusters such as Peter Jackson’s “King Kong” and M. Night Shyamalan’s “The Village.” He has been a regular in the Wes Anderson ensemble, appearing in “The Grand Budapest Hotel,” “Fantastic Mr. Fox,” and “The French Dispatch,” to name a few.

Jeffrey Wright began his distinguished career as a member of John Houseman‘s renowned Acting Company, touring the country performing Shakespeare and honing his craft. His stage breakthrough came with his co-starring role in the original production of “Angels in America” as the nurse Belize, a performance that won him a Tony Award and later an Emmy when Wright reprised it for the 2003 HBO miniseries adaptation.
That Tony win led to Wright starring in the title role of his first major film, “Basquiat,” directed by Julian Schnabel. His powerful performance led to a long and distinguished career as a character actor in film, where he worked with such acclaimed filmmakers as Wes Anderson, Jim Jarmusch and John Singleton. During that time, Wright balanced his career with TV and stage appearances as well, earning a second Tony nomination for 2002’s “Topdog/Underdog,” and three Emmy nominations for his co-starring role in...

The 2017 R-rated comedy movie Father Figures is a creative road movie that follows two adult brothers as they attempt to find their biological dad. After learning that their mother had lied to them their entire lives, Kyle and Peter are determined to figure out who their father is and set off across the country to find him. Along the way, they meet various men who could potentially be their father, and the brothers bond over their various adventures, creating a tale that is both funny and, at times, heartfelt.
Though the R-rated comedy received a lackluster response from critics and audiences and was not financially successful upon release, streaming audiences are now reassessing the movie and are realizing just how funny it actually is. Father Figures' quirky and underrated plot is supported by a cast of A-list stars that includes seasoned comedy veterans and expert dramatic actors.

In the 2010s, few TV dramas were as popular as Homeland, and the Showtime series even featured Timothe Chalamet in an early-career role. The Emmy-winning show premiered in 2010 and centers on CIA agent Carrie Mathison (Claire Danes), who believes rescued Pow Marine Sergeant Nicholas Brody (Damian Lewis) was "turned" by Al Qaeda and plans to carry out a terrorist attack on the United States of America. From that premise, Carrie travels the world as she deals with a variety of international threats.
It wasn't long after Homeland that Timothe Chalamet saw his career skyrocket. He quickly became one of Hollywood's buzziest young actors to watch when he broke out in 2017's Call Me By Your Name. Well, 2024 just got its new adorable mascot thanks to “The Legend of Ochi.”

“Monsters: The Lyle and Erik Menendez Story” is shining the spotlight on a completely separate murder – one that happened a decade before the brothers’ trial.
Episode 7 of the series – titled “Showtime” – features a long dinner party scene where Nathan Lane’s character Dominick Dunne breaks down the Menendez case as he sees it through the context of having sat through his own daughter’s murder trial. It’s also a trial that earned significant media attention a decade earlier.
Dunne’s daughter Dominique was a 22-year-old rising actor fresh off a lead role in 1982’s “Poltergeist.” She was strangled to death by her ex-boyfriend John Sweeney after their breakup on Oct. 30, 1982. Sweeney confessed to the murder – and an attempt to kill himself after – when the police arrived on the scene.
Here’s what we know about Dominique, the night she was killed, and where Sweeney and the rest of her family is today.

Timothée Chalamet is currently riding high on success with back-to-back successful projects. His last film Dune: Part Two secured the spot of the fourth-highest-grossing movie of 2024. Sadly, the 28-year-old actor also had a chance to star in Greta Gerwig’s highly successful Barbie, but missed it due to scheduling conflicts.

Previously, Timothée Chalamet had worked with Greta Gerwig in 2017’s Lady Bird and 2019’s Little Women. There’s much to consider when you’re a publicist and a client planning for the push of a new movie.
If a celebrity needs to prove just how down-to-earth or relatable they are, they can consume obscenely fiery chicken wings on “Hot Ones” and nearly lose control of their bodily functions. If they’re looking to be taken more seriously, they can journey into the Criterion Closet and pontificate about the artistic wonders of some of the most acclaimed movies in celluloid history. The more obscure, the better.
Letterboxed’s viral “Four Favorites” gives participants a chance to demonstrate their relatability and cinematic knowledge simultaneously and in a fraction of the time, too. Any film fan who has been online in the last few months will have undoubtedly seen clips of Nicolas Cage, Adam Sander, Jennifer Lawrence, Keanu Reeves, Tom Hanks, Ryan Gosling, Emily Blunt — basically anyone with a...

He’s been in (almost) every Wes Anderson movie, is related to Francis Ford and Sofia Coppola and drummed for the Beastie Boys. Now’s your chance to ask him – what’s it like being Jason Schwartzman?
You’d probably most associate Jason Schwartzman with Wes Anderson films as he’s been in seven of the blighters: Rushmore, The Darjeeling Limited, Fantastic Mr Fox, Moonrise Kingdom, The Grand Budapest Hotel, The French Dispatch and 2023’s Asteroid City.
You might also be aware that he’s from a famous film family, which includes uncle Francis Ford Coppola, cousins Roman and Sofia and (on the other side) cousin Nicolas Cage.

The Deep's relationship with Ambrosius the octopus takes a sad turn in The Boys season 4. Tilda Swinton, known for roles in the MCU and Hunger Games, voices The Deep's octopus in the new season. Fresh off his recent Oscar win, Wes Anderson made his first-ever visit to the Annecy Animation Festival, where he reminisced about his past while also sharing a bit about the shoot for his next feature.
Anderson took part in a conversation Wednesday aimed at giving animation students insight into his upbringing, influences and pre-Hollywood projects. The event began with a montage of animated moments from his movies, leading the filmmaker to note that he didn’t realize he had dabbled so extensively in animation and that he didn’t even have a clear memory of some of those clips from his own work.
During the session, Anderson was asked about the importance of family in his career, given that he has worked with brother Eric Anderson and is also known for collaborating multiple times with various members of his films’ cast and crew. This led him to discuss the process of making his next movie,...

Despite the implications of this story’s headline, these two films are not alike. Well, they are. Kind of. In some regards. Mainly in the sense that the focal point of each is centered around the clashes that come as a result of non-monogamy and specifically the challenges of maintaining civility within a ménage-à-trois relationship. There’s also a connection between the two leads of each film, Zendaya and Jean-Pierre Léaud, in that both began their careers as children and used these roles to expand audiences’ perceptions of them as adults. Perhaps most tangentially, the two films cover time periods of great social ignorance — Post-’60s France and Pre-2020 America (as well as Pre-Housing and Financial Crisis America) — and are aimed at sparking the public’s curiosities, albeit in completely different ways. Thankfully, this piece does not aim to strictly draw comparisons between the two films, but rather convince readers...

Wes Anderson is the singularly talented filmmaker who has quickly gone from indie darling to Oscar favorite in just a little over two decades, creating a number of quirky, visually splendid classics. Let’s take a look back at all 11 of Anderson’s films, ranked worst to best.
Anderson made his directorial debut with “Bottle Rocket” (1996), released when he was just 27-years-old. He received his first Oscar nomination five years later: Best Original Screenplay for “The Royal Tenenbaums” (2001). He followed that eight years later with a Best Animated Feature bid for the stop-motion film “Fantastic Mr. Fox” (2009). Another Best Original Screenplay nomination followed for “Moonrise Kingdom” (2012). Then he hit the Oscar jackpot with Best Picture, Best Director and Best Original Screenplay nominations for “The Grand Budapest Hotel” (2014) — well, almost hit the jackpot, since he went home empty-handed from those awards, losing all three to Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu for “Birdman.” He...

Looking back at it from 2024, the decision to cast Timothée Chalamet as Paul Atreides in "Dune" seems pretty unambiguously wise. Not only is this guy's resume absolutely padded by this point, with his standout performances in critical darlings like "Little Women," "The French Dispatch," and "Bones and All," but he's also proven himself to be a reliable box office draw with recent musical prequel "Wonka." But back in 2018, when the first rumors of Chalamet playing Paul started flying around, the decision was a lot more questionable. Chalamet's biggest lead role at that point was "Call Me By Your Name," a soulful romantic drama that won him plenty of acclaim, but didn't exactly showcase his abilities at playing the terrifying hyper-intelligent tyrant that Paul would have to become.
Luckily, Chalamet didn't have to deal with as much homophobia as you might expect. Whereas Heath Ledger was dismissed by a lot of...

Having shot all of his live-action features, along with his recent Oscar-winning The Wonderful Story of Henry Sugar, Yeoman is now taking a break for Anderson’s next feature The Phoenician Scheme.
Stepping in as director of photography, as he did for the Coens when Roger Deakins wasn’t available for Inside Llewyn Davis, is Bruno Delbonnel, who also shot Amélie, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince, Across the Universe, and The Tragedy of Macbeth. However, it won’t be the first time the cinematographer has worked with Wes Anderson, as he shot his H&m holiday ad “Come Together” and even briefly appeared in The French Dispatch.

Exclusive: Léa Seydoux (Dune: Part Two) is attached to star opposite Josh O’Connor (Challengers) in Separate Rooms, an upcoming film from Luca Guadagnino, multiple sources tell Deadline.
An adaptation of the 1989 novel by the late author Pier Vittorio Tondelli, the film is a non-chronological examination of the romance between the Italian iconoclast writer, Leo (O’Connor), and his translator, Thomas. Details as to the role Seydoux is playing haven’t been disclosed.
The script comes from Francesca Manieri, who collaborated with Guadagnino on his Sky/HBO series We Are Who We Are. Lorenzo Mieli will produce for Fremantle, following his work with Guadagnino on his cannibal romance Bones and All, starring Timothée Chalamet, which won Guadagnino the prize for Best Director at the 2022 Venice Film Festival.

Timothée Chalamet has proven twice within just the last three months that he is a true movie star. He’s one of the few young actors right now who can open a movie, whether it’s a family-friendly romp like “Wonka” or a sci-fi epic like “Dune: Part Two.”
That both of those were released by Warner Bros. is motivation for the studio to lock his services down as best they can. And so they have.
On Tuesday, WB film group heads Mike De Luca and Pam Abdy announced they’ve signed a multi-year, first-look feature film deal with Chalamet in which he will collaborate with the studio on future projects as both an actor and a producer. No specific projects were announced today.
Chalamet, 28, is still new to the producing game — but no longer a rookie. He produced Luca Guadagnino’s “Bones and All,” which was greenlit by MGM...
