The series is effectively a continuation of The Wright Stuff (2000) but featuring a different title and regular host.
Throughout the broadcast run of the programme Jeremy Vine has from time to time not presented editions of the show for various reasons such as holidays and other broadcasting commitments (such as recording episodes of the quiz show Eggheads). However, on Tuesday, 5th October 2021 Jeremy did not present the 197th edition of the fourth series for a very different reason. Storm Huntley presented that edition of the show as Jeremy Vine was appearing at the High Court in Birmingham where Mr Vine is suing the YouTuber Alex Belfield for defamation and harassment. Mr Belfield faces trial at Nottingham Crown Court in 2022 on 12 counts of stalking Mr Vine and harassment of seven members of staff of the British Broadcasting Corporation which Mr Belfield has defended as journalistic freedom of expression. Mr Belfield is himself suing the BBC and a number of its employees for defamation.
There was no Jeremy Vine show on 4th April 2022 due to a power failure at ITN. Channel Five repeated reality shows instead.
