The release of the movie was postponed for two years. First due to the 2019 Corona virus, and later on due to the war in Ukraine in 2022. The Covid pandemic delayed filming. And the producers didn't want to release a war movie, just as the war broke out in Ukraine. The filming of the movie was finished in 2021.
The characters "Ingrid Tofte" and "Gunnar Tofte" Are fictional characters, but the story is absolutely true. Eystein Røset, the only living Norwegian soldier from the battles in Northern Norway, attended a pre-screening, with his family, and said after the movie: "This is exactly how it happened"

Although the movie shows Narvik being reconquered by the Allies, Norway would later surrender to Germany in June 1940, after both the British and the French withdrew all forces from Norway to continue the fight in France. Germany would then create a puppet state called Reichskommissariat Norwegen that lasted until May 8th, 1945.
The scenes from the hotel backyard and the street scenes where filmed in the Øvre Storgate in Drammen, Norway, due to the fact that Narvik was burned down during the events portrayed in the Movie.
