Without giving away a ton, the title is meant to be optimistic. Got to appreciate comedians/comediennes and people in general who look for taboos, and some of those who knowingly tweak them.
For a while, I tried to figure out if the lighting for her stage backdrop was color coding the trigger warning sections of her set.
My wife watches awards shows, and she will watch the upcoming Golden Globes which Nikki will host. I'm pretty sure that will be filtered down to only show side Globes and lower Globe jokes....and she will probably do a decent attack-dog imitation a la Ricky Gervais.
For this set, the death stuff to me is kind of funny, but I'm not her mother. And Nikki at 39, going on 27 may still go through a mental change along with the physical change in a few decades. If not, there's a clip from this that will be aired a lot.
The anti-breeder stuff, I totally get but I am curious if in real life she feels the full-court press on not having kids. I know so many women without kids and if they are fending off attacks on that choice, I need to be edu-ma-cated. Or edu-pa-cated or sum thang.
Anyways, I laughed probably more than my wife, but she got through this fine. Although I think in contrast it raised her opinion of the Nate Bargatze special we watched on New Years. My wife, and myself honestly, do prefer more observational and/or humor on us zany humans/Americans/etc in general.
Glaser definitely has a self-centered mirror mirror on the wall, with a hope to appall. But definitely thought-provoking some of the time, the whole mmmmm-mmmm-mom bit.
Bottom line even by today's standards, it's pretty crude in spots. So if your standards were set in the last millennium, please do not watch this. Or mention Nikki to your priest, imam or rabbi. Hmmm, perhaps Nikki could use all three in her porn-related set.
Anyways, like an old Star Trek monster, be careful with this, your repulsion only makes her stronger ;>

This felt a little like a greatest hits collection, or I have comedic deja vu or something.
Look, I dig the everyman who leans into his simplicity, if we learned anything from Homer Simpson the depths of the husband as clueless comedic resource are sadly infinite. And Nate's delivery fits fine, but is it possible that he's more suited to 200 people and connect more than being surrounded by legions of adoring fans.
That sort of cuts against any self-mocking to a degree. Look I don't want him to get up there and do a Muhammad Ali butterfly and bee dance, I even kind of became entranced by his slow as a sloth steps, but the energy here almost felt like it was pre-ordered. Was the crowd made up exclusively of people who never have been on TV and have being on TV atop their bucket list?
Anyways, with no Dave Chappelle special this New Years, Nate stepped in and did his part. The waters were safe and the jokes as well (i.e. Family friendly, you bet).
Don't a lot of comics add writers as they grow, or maybe they do so and the writers are uncredited. I did notice this was just Nate on the byline.
Not hating on it, and even jokes I've heard before were well told. He wraps it up nicely....enjoy but if you laugh your behind off, I'm guess it was some detached before.
To be clear, I think there is another level ahead for the man, and there will be a Vol 2 - if not there's going to be a pretty dang funny Water Meter Repairman in your future neighborhood.

Was going to say Comedy and Intelligence don't mix, but that's a flat out lie from Lenny Bruce to Dave Chappelle.
However in pretty much all modern (starting in maybe 1980's) any comedy like this is going to struggle with the weight of bringing the film in for a landing. Tying up plot points, get the wheels down for all characters, and making sure everyone is safe when it is over.
"Superintelligence" succumbs as well, even though it can penetrate even the most tricky locations (through motion/heat detection or whatever, do NOT come into this film expecting to test out your own self-professed super-intelligence on quantum computing and awareness of the Pegasus software).
Honestly, I'm hoping Melissa McCarthy can be involved in a film that maybe takes a "Curb Your Enthusiasm" approach and opens the gates for more improv. She is very funny and acerbically so. Was I mildly disappointed that this film did not have a gag reel.... That is a hard "1" over any hint of a "0."
For me the experience here was enhanced that this film actually kept my wife around for its entirety. Bobby Cannavale doesn't hurt. Ever. And the drug retreat film with Melissa and Bobby meeting under Nicole Kidman's watchful eye and skeptical psycho-medial principals might be worth a watch for folks who made it through this film (much less this goofball review).
Would I have liked "The Umbrellas of Cherbourg" to have had my wife in for the full show, yes....but as this film, and pretty much every original Star Trek episode) indicate - human beings can surprise us.
Even James Corden (not a fan myself, but fans of his, I assume have already watched this twice).
