Don't Worry Darling (2022)
What about the script? -Don't Worry Darling
This movie is like if Jordan Peele's Get Out and Netflix' Black Mirror had a baby but that baby was violently thrown against the wall.
Great cinematography, Florence Pugh and Chris Pine were great, Harry Styles wasn't that bad but he seemed like a rookie when next to Florence Pugh. The score is good and yet the movie is bad.
I think Olivia Wilde did a great job with a not so good script.
There were some good ideas and some good scenes the movie had a lot of potential but still manages to feel unoriginal, dull and despite it lasting 2 hours it feels like a 3 hour film where not every question is answered.
Elvis (2022)
Austin and Hanks Rule!
Austin Butler and Tom Hanks are a great duo and they carry the film there's some stuff I didn't like about this movie like how instead of using more Elvis songs they used some very out of place rap or pop music.
Also the CGI they used to recreate iconic buildings and cities from a certain period of time was bad and you could often tell the actors were in front of a green screen; and like many other Baz Luhrmann's films there's unnecessarily complicated takes that denote the bad CGI.
Aside from all that, it is quite enjoyable and entertaining.
Prey (2022)
Less is More.
Absolutely brilliant film, great action sequences, beautiful cinematography, good score and great acting.
Simple but effective action movie, instead of being ambitious it focuses in it's characters and the action.
Nothing more than entertaining and it shouldn't be more.
Ms. Marvel (2022)
Missed Marvel
This show is not as bad as haters say but it's still lacking a bunch of stuff.
After I watched episode 1 I thought the show had a lot of personality and it didn't feel like another Marvel generic thing but as the show kept going it lost it's style and personality and turned into another Marvel prefabricated thing.
The strongest part of the show was Kamala's family dynamics and the evolution of the family members, I wish they had focused even more in that part instead of giving us CGI light-flashing thingy fights.
Thor: Love and Thunder (2022)
Another Marvel Ride
You want fun? You got it.
That's it. Don't expect too much just turn off your brain and have fun, that's not bad but it's sad that it could've been way more than that.
Christian Bale was great but he was wasted by giving him very little screen time.
Natalie Portman as Mighty Thor was the best part and I still feel like they wasted her.
Taika has proven with Jojo Rabbit that comedy and emotional scenes can coexist within the same movie, but with this film there's no time to feel empathy for the characters and there's no room for other feelings rather than laughing.
-Spoiler Warning-
I really hope we get to see Jane as Mighty Thor again.
The Black Phone (2021)
If not so scary at least creepy, suffocating and fun!
The best thing about this movie is the acting, every child actor gave an awesome perfomance, specially Madeleine McGraw who gives an emotional and incredibly fun perfomance, it's been a while since a character made me laugh so hard and I was definitely not expecting that in a horror movie.
Scott Derrickson is a great director and this movie has a lot of personality.
Ethan Hawke was awesome as The Grabber, he is scary and funny when needed.
Incredibly entertaining and 100% worth the watch.
Top Gun: Maverick (2022)
What an action movie is supposed to be.
Simple but very well done.
You can never tell what's CGI and what's real, the action is breathtaking. Great characters, even better cinematography and amazing score.
--Mild Spoiler--
It was all good but, doesn't it feel like the first Star Wars?
Everything Everywhere All at Once (2022)
Messy, ridiculous, stupid and perfect???
Everything Everywhere All At Once, the perfect name for this crazy movie.
One of the most original things you'll see in your life.
Even if you don't want to go too deep into it's meaning you'll have a lot of fun.
The movie feels like a videogame, the first 20 minutes of the movie are some kind of tutorial, the rules are explained and once you get everything you'll flow with the action.
What a ride, you'll laugh and the ending if a bit predictable will still make you shed some tears.
Jurassic World: Dominion (2022)
Fun, emotional and exciting but nothing new.
Unlike JW Fallen Kingdom which featured amazing classic horror elements this movie doesn't present something new to the franchise and that's not bad but it could have done something better.
Instead of feeling like a dinosaur movie with action and adventure it feels like an action movie with dinasaurs in it.
*Minor spoiler incoming:
JW Fallen Kingdom ended in a high note and it settled the ground for a great third movie, instead of focusing on how the world deals with dinasaurs they focused in Teenage Mutant Bugs... for some reason??
Still, it's a fun movie and it was great to see Sam Neill and Laura Dern once again, Sam Neill steals the show with his charming, grumpy performance as Dr. Alan Grant.
Moon Knight: Gods and Monsters (2022)
Marvel treating a character the right way.
I was afraid they'd treat Moon Knight as Sony's Venom but this is something different, Khonshu is manipulative and not the kindest being.
I'm glad Marc wasn't "cured" he is treated as a mentally ill person and it's cool that Marvel is going a bit dark with him.
Overall great season, chapter 5 was by far the best in this season, Oscar Isaac is hell of an actor.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness (2022)
Marvel goes a bit dark.
At first I was afraid this movie wouldn't feel like a Doctor Strange movie since there were so many characters rumored to appear, but boy it did not disappoint, it's definitely Wanda who steals the show but still, Doctor Strange shines.
I wish though, they don't forget about Mordo's arch from the first movie.
This adventure feels like one good old Doctor Strange'comic, it definitely has some horror elements, some scenes were truly creepy.
The cameos do not disappoint and they'll make you scream!!
One scene left me completely speechless SPOILERS AHEAD.
---SPOILERS---
Wanda killing the Iluminati?! Man that was SCARY.
Moon Knight: Asylum (2022)
Dark, Intriguing, Mysterious.
This episode deserved it's own review.
Oscar Isaac gave an amazing perfomance and the MCU finally gave depth and seriousness to one of it's characters.
Truly impressive work.
Metal Lords (2022)
Fun movie and nothing else matters
This is one of those movies to watch while eating pop-corn, just sit down, turn off your brain and have fun, good performances from all actors and overall fun and simple plot.
Uncharted (2022)
Fun but Flat
This movie doesn't make justice to the source material but still, you'll have fun.
Some great action sequences like the airplane one.
Tom Holland is a great actor but I think he didn't make a good fit as Nathan Drake.
I would watch another of these but there are a lot of things to improve.
The Northman (2022)
Art Meets Spectacle
This is a perfect movie, beautiful cinematography, awesome score and GREAT performances specially by Alexander Skarsgård, honestly, he deserves an Oscar, absolutely insane and savage!
Everyone did great, Anya Taylor-Joy, Willem Dafoe and Claes Bang.
I have literally nothing else to say but praises.
Robert Eggers is definitely one of the best directors of this century.
Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore (2022)
Fun for Potterheads but not so much for muggles.
I saw IGN's review a few days ago and they rated it as a 4/10, even lower than Morbius, I was genuinely scared for this movie but it did not disappoint!
Johnny Depp was cool as Grindelwald and it is weird changing the actor from movie to movie but still Mads nailed and he has such an imposing presence in every scene.
I would like to see another sequel but they should definetly end in the 4th movie instead of the 5 movies that were originally planned.
I don't think general audiences can enjoy this movie as it is not so much action packed but it's definitely worth if you love the Wizarding World.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (2022)
Gotta go fast!
This sequel is an improvement over the first one but still misses, specially with human characters, James Marsden does a great job and I missed his chemistry with Sonic in the first movie.
Those 5 minutes of the wedding thing were bad enough for me to give it an 8 instead of a 9 but still; great fun for grown ups and kids.
Good CGI and great action sequences, charming new characters have been added, Tails is very charismatic and Knuckles makes a great antagonist.
Turning Red (2022)
Fun, charming and entertaining!
Animation is amazing, the textures are incredibly realistic but it doesn't forget to exaggerate facial or body expressions, one of the best Pixar's work in animation.
The plot is simple and fun but it does the job, good comedy for all ages but it's true value goes beyond...
It's cool having Disney little by little defying taboos such as menstruation, there are reviews in this platform of parents complaining about it for some reason? As if it wasn't something that happens to every single girl in this world, it is also good for boys to learn about that and stop making a big deal about this kind of stuff.
The Batman (2022)
The Batman we've always wanted to see!!
I got to watch this movie early because of a special screening, I was extremely excited my expectations were very high and still they were surpassed!
Robert as Batman is just awesome, majestic and scary and yet at the end, he also evokes that sense of hope Batman gives to the population.
Paul Dano as The Riddler is so creepy! Both Robert and Paul gave an oscar worthy acting.
The rest of the cast gives amazing performances too!
Beautifully shot and the score is thrilling.
It does feel a bit long but it is rewarding.
The Green Knight (2021)
Is this really all there is?
What Else Ought There Be?
Two lines define what the movie is about, this movie is about life and death.
Amazing cinematography, breathtaking CGI and vissual effects, smart dialogues and fantastic acting.
It's definitely worth the watch, rewarding and different.
The King's Man (2021)
Interesting and fun prequel.
Just like the first two Kingsman movies expect well and creatively directed action scenes, Matthew Vaughn is truly the best action director out there, he is smart with the camera and his action scenes are breathtaking and rewarding. Ralph Fiennes is charming and surprisingly fits this action flick.
Great action, good acting, fun and surprising, this is another hit for Vaughn.
Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021)
A tribute to Spider-Man.
This movie is perfect, it has everything you've ever wanted from a Spider-Man movie and more.
Brilliant score, great performances, action, comedy, drama, romance and some of the brightest moments in any Spider-Man film before.
I thought it would struggle to give every character their moments but they all shined and some characters got even better like Green Gobling, Doc Ock and Electro; and of course Tobey and Andrew, just as amazing as they've always been.
You will laugh, scream, cry and cheer.
Eternals (2021)
When Marvel gets a good director good things happen.
I was sceptical about Eternals after being dissapointed by Black Widow and Shang-Chi, but how wrong I was.
This movie is one of MCU's bests, beautiful cinematography, great acting and unexpected plot twists. Also some of the best CGI from any Marvel movie, the Celestials were just breathtaking and the sound design was absolutely astonishing, you should definitely watch this in theaters.
Perhaps it feels a bit too long but it was necessary to tell the story of these god-like characters.
The Last Duel (2021)
Drama+Action+Great Actors=The Last Duel.
Went to watch this movie with zero expectations, without watching the trailers and I was amazed.
Adam Driver and Jodie Comer steal the show.
Sad, cruel and realistic portrayal of women in the XIV century. Entertaining and fantastic drama with brilliant cinematography and great acting from all the cast.
Halloween Kills (2021)
Michael Myers has never been more brutal!
I really can't tell why people seem to dislike this movie, is everything you want from Michael and more.
You can really feel the paranoia, the collective fear and the stress of not knowing how to stop Michael.
The ending is brilliant as it shows you how no one is safe.
It takes enough risks and is a massive step forward for the franchise, one more movie to go and I can't wait for the conclusion of this new Halloween trilogy.
