Crown Court
The case of George Clement, a Belgian national, who is accused of treason, for leading a coup against an uprising in The Caribbean Island of Santa Isabella, an island of British domain, set to gain independence. 25 people died, but as a Belgian, could George be tried for treason?
Another of those episodes that proved hard to track down, and I can perhaps see why, in this day and age where British history seems to be a negative, I can maybe understand the reluctances for people to see it.
A good first episode, is it the first time we've seen a case with an international flavour at Fulchester Crown Court? I believe it may just be the first. Treason, not a word you hear a lot now, but I imagine a very serious charge back in 1973. It'll be interesting to see how this one develops.
Richard Wilson charismatic as always. Michael Elphick has definitely been under the lamps, and that accent, come on.

The legal teams make their cases, The Judge presides, but ultimately The Jury decide innocence or guilt at The Crown Court.
Wow, how unfair, in this day and age viewers have to endure Doctors and cookery shows, back in the 70's they got Crown Court. No wonder kids wanted to bunk of school to watch it, I'm sure I would have.
It's an incredibly watchable series, one that holds up remarkably well over half a century on. Gritty, amusing, baffling, intriguing, just some of the words I'd use to describe it.
One thing that the show definitely benefited from, was variety, writers, cast, producers, from one week to the next, it never felt stale, it always seemed to feel fresh, you never know what sort of case is coming next.
I'm so grateful to the folks at Talking Pictures for putting this great show on, I never miss, and am working my way through, a staggering number of episodes.
I am loving seeing so many familiar faces, so much talent to spot and enjoy, the likes of Richard Wilson, Maureen Lipman, William Mervyn, John Barron and many more.
So many brilliant episodes, far too many to mention, but if I were to urge to to seek out just one, Destruct Destruct, terrific.
Sadly the dvds are now discontinued, and as such fetching crazy prices, I only wish the remainder would get a release.

Crown Court
After a distressing clash with Helen Tate, Sheena Smithson returns to the stand to complete her evidence, Tate continues to press very firmly. Alison James, The Social worker gives evidence, also facing pressure from Tate. The Jury retire to make their decision.
It has been a very good watch, a hard hitting story, which has been gritty and distressing from the start, a compelling final episode, with some very heated exchanges.
One thing I will have to highlight, it was the 70's, it would at the time have been more likely for them to have Tate defending her, and not Mr Lotterby, it somehow added a different layer seeing Tate be so aggressive.
She's been in countless episodes, and I suppose I haven't often commented, but the performance of Dorothy Vernon was terrific I thought, passionate, harsh, very realistic.
Caroline John was very good as expected, a talented actress, much missed.
This was particularly good.
