Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time (2010)
One of the few Hollywood films portraying Iranian legends
Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time could have easily scored a 10/10 if it weren't for some inaccuracies regarding Persian mythology. This Disney production shines with impressive special effects, talented actors like Jake Gyllenhaal (Dastan), Gemma Arterton (Tamina), Ben Kingsley (Nizam), and Alfred Molina (Amar), along with a compelling storyline.
However, there are notable mistakes. The film's atmosphere feels decidedly Arabian rather than Persian, highlighting Hollywood's frequent confusion between Iranian and Arabian cultures. Many legendary elements, such as the "Hashashin" and "Sama's Dance," are inaccurately portrayed, and it would be too lengthy to delve into all the inaccuracies here. Additionally, the geographical mistakes are glaring-Alamut is inaccurately depicted as being on the Persian Empire's borders when it is actually near Qazvin in central Iran. Moreover, how does Dastan travel to Sudan from Alamut on foot, covering over 3000 kilometers?
Despite these negative points, I highly recommend this fantasy movie for those who love this genre.
Jungle Cruise (2021)
A Surprising Adventure Movie!
I was truly surprised by this film! The special effects were impressive, and hearing Metallica's "Nothing Else Matters" was the highlight for me, as I'm a big fan of that song. When that familiar guitar riff began, I was overwhelmed with nostalgia and excitement. It's a song that really tugs at your heartstrings, and in that moment, it just elevated everything.
I'm not a fan of Emily Blunt but, Dwayne Johnson really brought his character to life, blending humor with the thrill of his quest.
The scenery was breathtaking, almost like a character of its own, transporting me to another world.
Overall, "Jungle Cruise" was a delightful surprise that exceeded my expectations and left me wanting to recommend it to my friends.
Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023)
The 2023 version of Indiana Jones!
This movie offers plenty of adventure scenes (I promise). However, as the movie progresses, it shifts from an epic adventure to a sci-fi narrative.
When I watched the movie, stories like Archamidius's time machine and the scenes searching for its two separate parts attracted me so much. However, as the movie progressed, I became tired of the conflict scenes.
The movie's special effects are its strongest aspect, while the weakest is the portrayal of an older Indiana Jones who wins every fight as effortlessly as he did in his youth. (how it can be possible!)
In the end, I recommend this movie to people who are crazy about fantasy stories and scenes but those who admire scientific stories better looking for another movie to watch.
Hame Chi Aroome (2012)
A meaningless movie...
The Persian cinema is ashamed for this movie because of its blatant disregard for cultural authenticity and historical accuracy. It embodies a grotesque caricature of our traditions, reducing rich narratives to mere spectacles for commercial gain. The characters, poorly crafted and stereotypical, do not reflect the depth and complexity of Persian identity. Instead of celebrating our heritage, the film wallows in sensationalism, perpetuating damaging clichés that overshadow the true artistry and stories that define our cinematic landscape. Audiences deserve better than this hollow portrayal that undermines decades of meaningful storytelling in Persian film. It feels as if the filmmakers have turned their backs on the very roots that nourish our artistic spirit, leading to a collective sense of betrayal among those who cherish our cultural legacy. This movie serves as a painful reminder of the pitfalls that can arise when commerce eclipses creativity, leaving a bitter taste in the mouths of those who love and respect the art of cinema.
Heart of Darkness (1998)
Not just a game...
This game holds a special place in my memory, brimming with delightful moments, as it introduced me to the world of video games at the tender age of 9 through my initial experience with Heat of Darkness!
When I was playing Heat of Darkness, I found myself in the world's game with its adventures and exciting challenges. It opened up a whole new realm of possibilities and sparked my imagination like never before. The mesmerizing graphics, immersive storyline, and captivating gameplay kept me hooked for hours on end. Heat of Darkness truly was a gateway to a lifelong passion for gaming that I will always treasure.
For years, I envisioned scenes of gameplay in my mind.
I would imagine myself navigating through the treacherous jungle, facing off against fierce enemies and unraveling the mysteries of the game's world. Each level presented a new challenge, pushing me to think creatively and strategize my next move. The feeling of accomplishment when overcoming difficult obstacles was like nothing I had experienced before. Heat of Darkness not only provided hours of entertainment, but also taught me valuable lessons in patience, problem-solving, and perseverance. It will always hold a special place in my heart as the game that kickstarted my love for gaming.
I know it's not acceptable for most teenagers and children to realize that but I couldn't help but feel a sense of nostalgia whenever I think back to those days spent exploring the virtual world of Heat of Darkness. It was more than just a game to me - it was a companion that fueled my passion for gaming and sparked my creativity in ways I never thought possible. Despite the challenges and frustrations that came with it, I always found myself coming back for more, eager to see what new adventures awaited me.
In Time (2011)
Great concept for a smooth and straightforward movie...
This film is a blend of appealing actors, a straightforward script, and an imaginative concept, enhanced by one of Justin Timberlake's commendable performances, ensuring an engaging experience for the audience.
In Time represents an anti-utopia of the city in the future in which the majority of people must work terribly to achieve more time for living because in the storyline of the movie, "time" has replaced money as an intermediary commodity that can be acquired, traded, and even saved.
In Time portrays a dystopian future city where most individuals toil hardly to gain additional time for living. Here, "time" serves as the new currency, surpassing conventional money, being obtainable, exchangeable, and storable.
On the flip side, there are very few individuals who do not need to struggle to survive and somehow embody the affluent class of the future.
In the same way, the story of the film tries to show the fact that the wealthy class is always looking for a tool to enslave the majority of the people, and this tool, which is called "money" today, can change its nature in the future, but its function remains the same.
In fact, the main message of this film is to introduce this tool (slavery) in the most disgusting and clear way possible and to criticize it from the point of view of the less privileged section of society.
In a way, it is a metaphor for the situation in today's world...
How I Met Your Mother (2005)
A series suitable for all times...
I understand that for die-hard Friends fans, this may be hard to accept, but as a member of the Y-generation, I believe How I Met Your Mother is a superior sitcom. It offers more intricate storylines, deeper character development, a more modern approach, and, undoubtedly, funnier characters!
While Friends will always hold a special place in some groups of people's hearts, How I Met Your Mother has managed to capture the essence of friendship, love, and growing up in a way that resonates with our generation. The legendary love story of Ted and Robin, the hilarious antics of Barney Stinson, and the heartwarming moments shared by the gang at MacLaren's Pub make How I Met Your Mother a timeless classic that will continue to be cherished for years to come.
How I Met Your Mother took the genre to new heights with its innovative storytelling and emotional depth. The intricate web of relationships, the clever use of flashbacks and flash-forwards, and the unexpected plot twists kept viewers engaged and emotionally invested throughout its nine-season run. While Friends may have set the bar for ensemble comedies, How I Met Your Mother raised it even higher, creating a show that resonates with a new generation of viewers and continues to spark debates about which sitcom truly reigns supreme in the hearts of fans. (with HIMYM superiority indeed)
All in all, How I Met Your Mother will always be remembered as a groundbreaking sitcom that pushed the boundaries of traditional storytelling and left a lasting impact on pop culture. Its blend of humor, heart, and nostalgia continues to captivate audiences, making it a timeless classic that will be cherished for years to come. Whether you're Team Ted or Team Barney, one thing is for sure: How I Met Your Mother will always hold a special place in the hearts of fans everywhere.
In the end, I would even enjoy watching it again with my future children.
Joker (2019)
Out of description...
One of the best drama-thriller movies I've ever seen. Of course, nobody can deny that "Heath Ledger" was the best Joker of all time but the act of "Joaquin Phoenix" as Joker was outstanding too. Joaquin Phoenix brought a raw and haunting portrayal of the character, delving deep into the psyche of the Joker. His performance was mesmerizing, capturing the turmoil and madness of the character in a truly unforgettable way. Phoenix's Joker stands as a unique and powerful interpretation, showcasing his immense talent as an actor.
It is obvious that I am keen on Joker's personality and role but the other aspects of the movie were great too. For example, the cinematography was stunning, with its dark and gritty aesthetic perfectly capturing the mood of the film. The soundtrack also added another layer of intensity, enhancing the overall viewing experience. Overall, Joker was a masterpiece in every aspect, not just in terms of its iconic character.
I suggest it to everybody as a film that will linger in your mind long after the credits roll, sparking conversations and debates about its themes and messages. Joaquin Phoenix's performance as the troubled Arthur Fleck was nothing short of mesmerizing, capturing the character's descent into madness with haunting authenticity. The film's dark and gritty tone, coupled with its thought-provoking narrative, makes it a must-watch for any fan of cinema. Joker is a cinematic achievement that deserves all the praise it has received and more.
Daredevil (2003)
A nonsense superhero movie!
In comparison with similar movies, this one takes the cake for sheer absurdity. From the protagonist's wacky powers to the outlandish villains he faces, every scene is filled with savage action and ridiculous dialogue. It's a wild ride from start to finish, leaving audiences both confused and bored.
The special effects are laughably bad, with CGI that looks like it was done by a five-year-old. The plot makes no sense whatsoever, jumping from one random scenario to the next without any explanation. And don't even get me started on the acting - it's so over-the-top that it's cringe-worthy. Overall, this movie is a complete disaster that will leave you questioning why you wasted two hours of your life watching it.
Winnie-the-Pooh: Blood and Honey (2023)
A Disaster...
I found it really awful without any logical scenario couldn't believe how poorly written and executed the whole thing was. It felt like a complete waste of time and money. The characters were one-dimensional, the dialogue was cringeworthy, and the plot made no sense whatsoever. I kept waiting for it to redeem itself, but it just got worse and worse. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone, not even my worst enemy. I can't believe I wasted my time and money on such a terrible movie. The acting was atrocious, the plot made no sense, and the special effects were laughable. I felt like I was being tortured for two hours straight. Save yourself the agony and steer clear of this disaster.
Interstellar (2014)
Unique in its genre
In my view, this movie is a masterpiece in every way, with outstanding music, professional acts (especially Matthew McConaughey), dealing with scientific facts, and explaining points most simply and understandably for the audience.
This movie has attracted me so much that I'm willing to watch it again more than ten times and not get enough.
During the movie, my mind kept going back and forth between scientific facts and human emotions to the point where I often felt like I was related to the characters and got involved in the story.
I recommend "Interstellar" to all scientific and drama movie lovers.
(I don't use the word "sci-fi", I think "Interstellar" did its best to stay away from fiction.)
