Yes, after watching this piece of junk, I really wonder what am I really doing? Am I still on the right channel, did I change anything in my Tv series program? I have already checked and am astonished to realize that I am still actually on TALES FROM THE DARK SIDE show. To cool me down, because I am really upset, I try to remember the series ONE STEP BEYOND, where there was also some episodes which had nothing to do in this fantasy and supposed to be spooky TV show. I watched this very episode, sometimes with the fast forward button, but it still was a disgusting experiment for me. This story is destined to the whole family, especially grandparents and the youngest kid. No comment.
I don't know what this gangster story has to do in this series. Ok, there is a eerie, fantasy element, but both don't fit together. Maybe for some of you, maybe some folks will find it interesting, but not me. Danny Aiello in the lead role is more than a cliche, and the rest of this story bored me to death. It's a matter of taste, I admit. So, I have nothing more to tell about this stupid and senseless tale. But, if you really want to find anything worth - or worse - focus on Danny Aiello's performance. Because it's always a delight to watch his roles whatever the junk he plays in. I hope there will not be too many like this one in the further episodes.
During the early eighties, you had two major, iconic vigilante thrillers, among many others though: FIGHTING BACK, from director Lewis Teague; and VIGILANTE, from director William Lustig. I am sure many movie goers have confounded those two films and even their kids did too. Both are as powerful one as the other, and so typical of this period. But it could be the same now, even worse in reality. But we are unfortunately used to see violence everywhere, so this kind of films would not have the same impact now, in 2025. But in the early eighties, it was the continuity of the DEATH WISH era, several years earlier. In both films, VIGILANTE, FIGHTING BACK, the message is the very same, take justice by yourself. I won't comment.
