I get that there are quite a few fans of the original (if you can call it that since this is a prequel), I understand that stories could have been tied better... But, you know what? This is a good movie. The main character is likeable, smart, and relatable. The story is interesting and well-paced. There are some creepy characters but they never felt cartoonish. I enjoyed it a lot and it's one of the best horror movies of 2024.
By now you probably know the story and even how it ends, but try to enjoy this movie as a stand-alone. Try not to bother yourself "nobody asked for this, originality is dead", watch it and you just might like it.

"No Way Up" tells the story of a plane that crashes into the ocean, and the survivors have to deal with all sorts of terrifying problems, including sharks. For a low-budget movie, it was surprisingly well-made. The special effects were decent and believable, and the actors did a good job making the story feel real.
The movie packs in a lot of horror elements: there's the plane crash itself, the claustrophobic feeling of being trapped, the constant threat of water and drowning, the presence of sharks, and the lack of oxygen. Each of these elements added to the tension and kept things interesting.
However, despite these strengths, the movie did have some issues. There were moments where it felt a bit boring, and I found myself losing interest. The pacing could have been tighter. Additionally, the characters made some really dumb decisions that made it hard to stay invested in their survival. It was frustrating to watch them make obvious mistakes.
Overall, "No Way Up" is a decent survival thriller, especially when you consider the budget constraints. It's not perfect and has its flaws, but it offers enough suspense and solid performances to make it worth a watch. If you enjoy survival stories and don't mind some slow moments and questionable character choices, give it a shot. I'd rate it a 6 out of 10.
