1990: I guerrieri del Bronx (1982)
Great post-apocalyptic flick
This movie isn't post-apocalyptic in strict terms, not like 2019: After the Fall of New York who was more similar to Mad Max, this film is more similar to Escape from New York. I won't go so far saying that this movie is better than Escape from New York, but Bronx Warriors is more entertaining movie. Escape from New York tells us about dead man's land, The Bronx Warriors, gives us an ability to travel around dead man's land and get to know better this world. The biggest flaws was some really stupid dialogs, sometimes it felt that you are watching a puppets or something like that. But there was some great action sequences, mostly fighting scenes, but there was also some great stunts. The best fighting scenes were the ones with Fred Williamson. There were lots of gangs and colorful characters too. It's really cool action flick and is worth watching if you are a fan of movies like Mad Max, Escape from New York or 2019: After the Fall of New York.
Wayne's World 2 (1993)
Much better than a first part
This film is similar to the first part, but there is much more good stuff in it. Today I've watched two other Mike Myers's films - So I Married an Axe Murderer and Wayne's world and I compared both of them with Austin Powers series, but Austin Powers was much better than these two films. Now this film is really as good as Austin Powers. There were much more spoof on films and other jokes typical to Mike Myers films. More stars appeared in this part, especially musicians. I didn't expect this movie to be that good, because it has lower rating on IMDb than the first part has, but it's really better. Rarely the sequel is better than the original, but it happens.
Wayne's World (1992)
Great comedy
This movie is great. There were lots jokes typical too Mike Myers. There were few films spoofed like Terminator 2: Judgment Day, though it ain't a spoof comedy. There were few funny characters, like Wayne's ex-girlfriend. There was no boring moments in this film, even when it's not funny, it's still interesting to watch. Although, in the beginning this movie may look not much promising, but it get's better when you get to know characters better. Many great actors did they cameo appearances in this films, my favorite was Ed O'Neill, maybe his role wasn't anything special, but to me it was kinda funny. Maybe this movie is not that good as Austin Powers, but it's still very funny.
So I Married an Axe Murderer (1993)
Good but not great
Of course this movie is not that funny as Austin Powers series, actually I remember only few moments which were really funny, there were lots of jokes, but most of them were not very funny because they were already used in many other films, but this movie is great in some other terms. The story wasn't anything special or original, but the characters were great. The actors did a great job especially Nancy Travis, I think she was a great choice for this role, because she looked kinda mysterious in this film, just like Sharon Stone in Basic Instinct. The soundtrack really raised the quality of this film. This movie has some originality, it started of good, but the ending was very predictable and banal. Anyways I still think that this movie is very entertaining.
Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002)
Another great Austin Powers film
Maybe it's not that good as first two parts but it's still very funny. Some jokes were already used in previous parts, but it was made a little differently, so it still was very funny. There were also some new jokes, in the opening we see Tom Cruise playing Austin, that was kinda funny. As in previous films there was some Dr. Evil and Scott Evil father-son relationship scenes, maybe it wasn't that good as in previous films (like when Dr. Evil and Scott were at Jerry Springer's show in The Spy Who Shagged Me), but still some moments were really funny. This film spoofs not only James Bond movies, but some other movies too, like The Silence of the Lambs or Godzilla.
...And Justice for All (1979)
Of course it's good, there is no bad movies with Al Pacino
If you are reading this comment because you want to know if this movie worth watching, then don't waste your time by reading it to the end and just watch it. The fact that Al Pacino plays the lead role in this film means that this film is good. Although, not like some films with Al Pacino, it's good not only for having Al Pacino in it, it's also has a great story. There were a lot of memorable, comical and even shocking moments in this film. Actually this movie is a half comedy (in my opinion), there were few funny moments (actually more than a few) and also some situations were too ridiculous to be taken seriously. If you like Al Pacino, then you will like this movie.
Plan 9 from Outer Space (1957)
Actually not that bad as I thought it will be
Not so long ago I've watched Ed Wood and I really liked that film so I decided to watch some of this films. OK, so special effects were poor (even for those times) and this film had many goofs, at the times it was made, it was bad, but nowadays it's a classic. I liked those special effects, because they look different than in nowadays films, I guess I'm just tired of all those digital effects. Some moments were kinda creepy. The acting wasn't so bad, some actors did really great. I like the plot, though it had many holes, I think that Ed Wood was good at script writing. Some dialogs were well written. I thing Ed Wood could try to sell some of his scripts first, rise some money and then make a movie on a bigger budget. Most of the actors (or maybe all of them) were Ed Wood's friends, so I see a lot of heart and enthusiasm in this film. Movies like this are like vine - they get better with age.
Taxi (1998)
Typical French action movie
Maybe French movies aren't that well known in the world as American movies, but that doesn't mean they are worse. People usually are sceptic about watching films witch aren't from Hollywood, that's why many great French comedies were remade in Hollywood, but I think that people should give it a try, maybe those movies are made on a lower budged, but that doesn't mean they are less entertaining. Taxi is a typical French action movie. It has a lot of action sequences (in this part only shoot out's and car chases and they were all great), some comedy, style, great music and everything else what a great action flick needs.
Ed Wood (1994)
One of the bets movies I've seen
This is a really worth watching movie. I wasn't expecting it to be that good. I don't know how much truth was in this film, but I don't think that many things were changed. This movie is really inspiring, especially the ending, right now I can't remember any other movie which would be so inspiring. This film actually made me believe in fate, because Ed Wood was always surrounded by unusual people, who were also an actors of his movies, I don't think it's a coincidence that the people which Ed Wood meets are such an unusual people. I think this movie would be interesting for everyone, not only that it's interesting, but it's sometimes comical too. I noticed that Johnny Depp's carrier is similar with Al Pacinos carrier. Johnny Depp's Ed Wood is like Al Pacino's Serpico and Johnny Depp's Blow is like Al Pacino's Dog Day Afternoon, so Johny Depp can be called nowadays Al Pacino, though their acting styles are different.
Still Smokin (1983)
Maybe even funnier than the original movie
I think many people will disagree with me, but this film has much more funny moments than the first part. OK, so maybe the first movie had a better plot and this film is kinda pointless, but that's what's good about it, there were shown many different comical performances by Cheech & Chong, some of the were really funny. Some people say that this movie is bad, but how can the film about Cheech & Chong in Amsterdam be bad? This time there was not only drug humor (though mostly drug humor) but there was a lot of sex and other type of jokes. The drug dealing scene was very funny. Maybe as movie it isn't that good as the original, but it's definitely funnier than original.
Up in Smoke (1978)
Classic of drug comedies
Basically all Up in Smoke movies are about watching other people getting high, actually all the drug comedies are about that. It sounds kinda boring, but not when those people are Cheech & Chong. The scene where they were smoking in a car in the beginning is still funny to me, though I watched it many times. This movie is making fun more from the cops and other people who fight drugs, than from the drug addicts who just want to get high. This film shows how ridiculous those fighters against drugs look like, though this is a comedy, in my opinion, there is a lot of truth in this film. Maybe other Up in Smoke movies aren't that good as this one, but as I remember there is always at least few hilarious moments.
Cannibal Holocaust (1980)
I would rate this film 10/10 if not the cruelty to animals
This is a great movie. The plot was great and reveling, though to some it make no sense why those people were so cruel with those savages, but I think, it could be explained that they were afraid of them, and felt being a potential diner for those savages. Also they probably went a little insane because of some events and some other things. The only thing which I didn't like was a cruelty to animals. Isn't this ironic? The makers of this film aren't better than the characters of this film who were presented as "evil people". But still I can appreciate the rest of the film, which was great. They really shouldn't use animals, if I knew that there will be shown some cruelty to animals filmed specially for this film, I wouldn't watch it.
Nemesis (1992)
Very entertaining movie
I found some originality in this film. OK there is a lot of movies similar to this. This movie is about cyborgs who wants to take over the world and there is a cop who wants to stop them. Actually the story is a little complicated, because there is a lot of different characters with a different interests and all of them are cyborgs, one of them want to destroy humanity, the others want to stop them and that's what makes the story so complicated. The other thing that I found being original was that cyborgs didn't wanted to kill the people, but they wanted to make a cyborgs out of them. The action sequences were all great, especially the shoot-out scenes. There was a lot of energy in this film, the characters were fighting, jumping from the different heights, there is a lot of great stunts and acrobatic tricks and it just doesn't stop, I can't find the right words to describe it, but it was great.
Showdown in Little Tokyo (1991)
You have the right to be dead.
Only from this line you can tell a lot about a movie, it reminds me of so many great action movies made in those times. OK, so the plot is nothing special. This movie is similar with movies like Lethal Weapon or Rush Hour. Dolph Lundgren is a white samurai and also a cop and Brandon Lee is his partner, though he's an Asian, he knows nothing about his culture except for martial arts, but that's all we need. There is a lot of great action sequences. The martial arts scenes were great (especialy those with Brandon Lee). The shoot-out scenes were very impressive and there was also some great stunts. All the characters looked like they come right out of a comic book, actually the whole movie was like it, but that's a good thing, it made this movie more entertaining. This movie is nothing but fun and it deserves a better rating on IMDb.
Universal Soldier (1992)
Jean-Claude Van Damme Vs. Dolph Lundgren
This is one of the bests Jean-Claude Van Damme's movies. Ignore the rating, it's so low because of the people who hate movies, this movie is great. The plot was great, maybe it doesn't look so original nowadays, but it's because many similar movies were made. The action sequences were great and I really liked that comical fighting scene in a bar. There are usually a colorful villain in Jean-Claude Van Damme's movies, this time it's played by Dolph Lundgren, and he is incredible in this film. This movie proofs what a great actor he is. I really think that this is the best role Dolph Lundgren ever had, or at least one of the bests. Ally Walker did also a great job, her character was kinda comical, what is a necessary element in action movies.
Land of the Dead (2005)
Great movie
Maybe maybe this film isn't that good as it's prequels, but it's still one of the bests zombie movies I've seen. In the most of the movie we see people shooting zombies and not that often - zombies eating people. As always, the biggest bad guys in this film are people, not zombies. It was interesting that there still left some sort of civilization, and the rich people are living in beautiful apartments just like before all these events. I liked John Leguizamo's character. There were some other colorful characters as in Day of the Dead. The murder and action scenes were great. So if you are looking for a great zombie movie, you should check out this one.
JCVD (2008)
Great return of Jean-Claude Van Damme
Actually, I don't even know how to start this review, because it's a really unusual film, especially for Jean-Claude Van Damme. Van Damme is playing (parodying?) himself, and some facts in this film are true but it's still a fictional story. It kinda reminds me ...And Justice for All. with Al Pacino, because it left me wondering how much of this should be taken seriously. Many scenes were clearly just a parody, but sometimes it seemed that what Van Damme is saying is coming from a heart. It's a little odd but still a great movie. It's bringing back Jean-Claude Van Damme's popularity and it should also start a brand new level in his carrier, in my opinion, Jean-Claude Van Damme is a symbol of action movies and in future, he will be like Clint Eastwood or something like that. If you are a fan of Jean-Claude Van Damme, then you should watch this movie. By the way - though it's different Van Dammes film, it still has some great fighting scenes.
Day of the Dead 2: Contagium (2005)
At least it's not boring
I've watched this film mainly because of curiosity, because most of the people say it's bad without properly explaining why, but I think that there is no movies which would be all bad, there still must be something good about it. Actually it wasn't that bad. The biggest mistake that makers of this film did was to call it Day of the Dead 2 (probably because to attract more audience). As sequel to Day of the Dead it sucks, but it's still good as just a zombie movie. There was some blood, graphic violence scenes and humor. The idea was quite good. This movie was interesting to watch, if it would be boring, I probably wouldn't watch it to the end. I understand why some people were disappointed by it, but it wasn't all bad.
Day of the Dead (1985)
My favorite zombie movie
I understand if some people were disappointed by this film because it has less action and blood than Dawn of the Dead. But this one in my opinion has a better plot, not just shooting and running from zombies. What I liked the most were the characters of this film and the situation they were all in. It's a really interesting conflict. every character had his own point of view. Some of them were depressed, some of them just didn't care about nothing and so on. It's a really interesting movie. The murder scenes looked very realistic and the zombies looked much creepier than in Dawn of the Dead. The acting was really great. I liked the music very much, it really rise the quality of this film. It's one of my favorite horror movies.
Dawn of the Dead (1978)
I can't believe that I waited so long before watching it
I was afraid that this movie is going to be boring, so I waited quite long before watching it. I really liked George A. Romero's Day of the Dead and every time when I watched other zombie movies, I was expecting them to be as good as Day of the Dead and of course I was disappointed. This is the prequel of Day of the Dead, it's kinda different, but still great. There is always something going on in this film. There is lots of blood, action and even humor. Actually I think it would be kinda exiting to be stuck in a shopping mall with lots of guns and zombies. Sounds fun. This is what this movie about. Of course the characters of this film are a little depressed, but still from time to time we see them having fun in a shopping mall who now belongs to them. More zombie movies should be like this.
Water (2005)
Think
It is obvious that this is not one of those entertaining movies. Actually, sometimes it was hard to stay concentrated on it, but it's because this movie really made me think. Not because the plot was complicated, it made me think about those people who suffer, sacrificing their lives, because of the blind belief. Just don't get me wrong, though I am not a religious man, I tolerate other peoples beliefs, but not when it is hurting someone and not when some people use it for their own goods. I think it's well portrayed in this film. If you are interested in this subject, then you should watch this film, you won't be disappointed.
The Wrong Guy (1997)
Such a heart warming comedy
I've seen this film many years ago on TV and I remember that it made a huge impression on me. Today I watched it again, but I wasn't expecting much because I was maybe eight years old when I first saw this movie. Not only it was funny but it was also very interesting and also there was something magical about it that gave me such a worm feeling in my heart. I think that people who made it are really nice people. There is no jokes who could insult anybody (like most of the comedy films does) but it still was very funny, it's an innocent humor. Though there was some dirty jokes, I still think that this film is good to watch for all family. By the way - the stunts were great.
Hard Times (1975)
Street fighting
This is the earliest bloodsport type movie I know. The fighting scenes weren't that good as in nowadays movies, of course, actually it was just a simple fist fights. But they were very intense, because you could newer be too sure who will win, since this isn't one of those movie which is only about fighting, it's about a plot, so even the main guy can lose. Charles Bronson was real tough in this film. His character doesn't look like one of those who spend many hours in gym, he looked like one of those who get their strength in natural ways, like hard working or something like that, though I liked Once Upon A Time In West more, in this film he looked tougher.
Yes Man (2008)
I'm just glad that Jim Carrey is playing in comedies again
I thought that Jim Carrey quit playing in comedies and now will only do dramas because after Fun with Dick and Jane no new Jim Carrey's comedies were released (exept for Horton Hears a Who! which I haven't watched yet because I am not a big fan of cartoons) until this film came out. I heard that it's based on true story, so I thought that it's ain't going to be funny. I was so wrong. This movie was great. It's very similar with movies Liar Liar or Bruce Almighty, in other words - a typical Jim Carreys comedy. Not only it's funny, but it also has a great plot and a very optimistic mood. I think I'm going to try to say yes to everything at least for one day. It's such an inspiring movie.
Death Warrant (1990)
Great action thriller with some horror elements
Of course just like the most of the movies with Jean-Claude Van Damme, this one has some martial arts scenes, only this time there is a little less of them. Martial art scenes were great, especially the last one, but what I liked about this film was the story, though some people may say that the story is nothing special, I really don't think so. It's a prison flick with some horror movie elements. The atmosphere was kinda creepy, there were few cruel murder and torture scenes and as in most of Jean-Claude Van Damme movies, there is some colorful bad guys. I think this movie would be interesting for a different audiences, but if you like prison flicks, than you definitely got to watch it.
