Finding Nemo (2003)
beautiful but....
has there ever been a more stunningly beautiful animated film? I don't think so. has any animated film ever had such detail? probably not. but it simply isn't worth sitting through the hour and half view time of this depressingly slow movie just for the visual dynamics. I have the sneaking suspicion that the animators at pixar had the visual concept LONG before a storyline and had to make one up on the fly. the beginning is so sad and miserable that the ending feels utterly anti-climatic. never have I seen such a gorgeously animated children's film that left me feeling so hopeless and sad. in short if you want realism and breathtaking detail. watch some nature shows on discovery channel in HD. and if,like me. you want to be entertained stick with Monster's Inc or Ice Age
I Know Who Killed Me (2007)
there are no words
I like so many other unsuspecting fools thought even with the bad reviews and cheesy look of the film (not to mention the fact that it's main star was Lindsay lohan) that this movie just might be a good thriller in the vein of Hitchcock Jesus I can't believe how wrong I was, the only person more wrong then me was the guy I watched it with. his thinking was even if it's a bad movie at least I get to see Lindsay pole dancing/naked. Ha!
this movie requires us to make up a new word for terrible just so we can properly describe this film basically it's like they couldn't write a real script so they filled in the blanks with torture porn imagery and Lindsay trying to be sexy. sad
the acting is awful, the story is hokey, the music is cliché, the dialogue terrible....I could go on but really is there any need?
How the Grinch Stole Christmas (2000)
big hype, huge egos
Big hype, huge egos and lots of overacting can't believe that didn't work. I looked forward to this as I love the 1966 cartoon so much my holiday season doesn't start until I've seen it however I won't be holding this title to that regard. It's the usual mix big budget Hollywood updates; we have Ron Howard at the helm trying desperately for a blockbuster, Jim Carrey almost manic in his attempt at comedy and a shamefully long-winded script. Overall I was just plain disappointed If you still want to see this movie OK go ahead but keep your expectations low and don't watch with your kids. A lot of the humor will go right over their heads
