Alien: Covenant (2017)
The Ending Saves This Movie For Me
Alien.. Did you say Alien? The thought of another Alien movie made me think.. "Not Again!"
Well, actually this movie had great horrific scenes and some descent jump parts.
Finally a Post-Alien movie that actually had a path for life for another Alien movie. I am so tired of the movies that kills the villains in the end only for them to "Somehow" return in another movie when they were destroyed in a previous movie.
I expected far worst based on my history with Alien and some reviews, however, this movie actually turned out to be quite enjoyable for me.
Can't always go by the worst reviews.. I've found them to be off many times. 7.5 out of 10
And to be quite honest, for this movie to be sitting at nearly a 7 out of 10 with over 1,000 reviews confirms a fairly good movie. These reviews below a 4 is quite senseless IMO.
Get Out (2017)
FINALLY! A Refreshing Movie
I honestly would go a 9 out of 10, however, i am so tired of seeing unfair, poor ratings like a 1 out of 10 for a movie that really deserves better.
I love a movie that i can't predict throughout the end, and this movie, 'Get Out', finally delivered for me.
Kind of remind me of 'The Skeleton Key', which I feel got unfair low ratings as well.
Anyhow, Great Movie, definitely not as predictable as most of the crap that has been delivered these last few years.
Thanks Jordan Peele.. Funny and Entertaining.
John Wick: Chapter 2 (2017)
Over rated IMHO
Yes, the action was continuous, however, it was TOO repetitious..
The shooting was so repetitious throughout the movie, It should have been labeled 'John Wick the Non Stop Shooter'.. Sorry fans of this movie, just too much of the same shooting over and over, and my Goodness, with those multiple hard impact car hits and more, John Wick legs have to be made of titanium..
Sorry, too many unrealistic scenes for me.
The Hateful Eight (2015)
Interesting Quentin Style Movie.. However..
I agree with a few comments on The Hateful Eight that Quentin could have made a few other takes on it and it would have been a bit more interesting.
With that said, it still have the feel of a good Quentin movie and some parts quite funny and captive.
I'll keep it short and say the movie was a bit long for the action provided but none the less still had moments to keep me awake which I expect in a good Quentin movie.
I personally think it could have been shortened in many areas and kept the same impact the movie presented.
I still, overall, liked the Quentin effect and is quite OK with giving it a solid 8 out of 10.
Some of my positioning on rating could be the fact that we just haven't been presented with very good movie entertainment lately and I would say the Hateful Eight is somewhere of what we expect of Quentin movies.
Each to their own opinion. Thanks.
Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice (2016)
A General Preview To Be Updated - UPDATED!
I hope I'm not breaking any rules here on IMDb, however, I would like to state that I am a bit skeptical on how you can make a movie about Batman somehow defeating Superman unless he has Kryptonite or something green lol.. IMO.
Doesn't Batman need man-made stuff to get around and achieve most of his goals where Superman is a super power hero who flies around the earth so many times a second, made of steel, bends steel, x-ray vision eyes, stop trains, etc etc etc.. How in the hell is Batman suppose to verse Superman?
Well, I can't wait to get back and give my update on this movie. Thanks.
UPDATE!
OK, saw the movie, AND, First where in the hell does Wonder Woman come from? She practically saved the day for the heroes in this movie! Never knew she had so much power .. WOW! Rope that big beast and beat the crap out of him.. GEE! With that power it would be much better if Wonder Woman has her own movie IMO.
Uhh is it me or should we have just simplified this movie by letting Superman kill the Massive Beast at the end with the Kryptonite spear and be done.
OK I'm about done with the comic book movies, getting a bit too predictable as to who wins at the end. Well, of coarse Superman will be back, notice the dirt lift off casket at the end.
My dream comic book movie? Kick the heroes ass for a change at the end and bring there DNA back in a sequel for revenge.. Now that would be exciting and different for me!
I rate a 7 for beginning thru mid action and Superman getting his ass kicked at the end. Rest of movie gets a rough 6 or less. I personally can do without Lois and man of steel kisses when ass kickn should be happening.
Allegiant (2016)
Not what I was Expecting
I had to go watch this movie series just to justify the mixed ratings I read.
Well, I have to say, In My Opinion, there was more going on in this movie that was unrealistic and slow than favorable / enjoyable moments.
So, personally, I won't hold fire against the comments that rated this movie below a 7. I actually would say they are right on target.
I have to say movie quality has certainly went down over the last 6 yrs. I'm beginning to believe many directors and movie industries are expecting movie goers will watch anything with engaging previews to suck us in and torture us with the rest of the movie being BAD.
I am a sci-fi fantasy type movie lover, loving the tech and all that stuff, however, there is a threshold as to what I enjoy watching when it comes to this type of movie genre and this movie just don't quite get there for me. Divergent followers or not, this movie fails for the length of time and plot it delivers to be enjoyable.
As stated before, I don't believe in rating movies terribly low, so I give this movie series a generous 6 without going into more details.
Thanks
It Follows (2014)
I Cant Believe The Positive Current Rating
As I type, the rating is currently 7.5.. This is ridiculous! I have seen much better scripted movies of this type with lower ratings..
The movie is terribly slow and too repetitious throughout. I can only believe the over positive rating of this so-called thriller/horror or whatever it is.. is only for critics thriving for sex scenes in movies.
I can't possibly put my criticism of this movie to any high standard of any movie genre. Yes, i am the one who complains of people being unfair with ratings below 5, I almost wanted to go there, but I have to practice what I preach.
So there you have it.. a 5 at its best. Just wasn't all the hype I thought it would be with a 7.5 rating.. This is CRAZY.
As I type, I actually see critic reviews of, "The Scariest Movie of 2015" .. "An Instant Classic" .. One of The Most Striking American Horror Films In Years".. EXCUSE ME.. This is nothing more than a sales pitch and joke of honest reviews..
Movies such as Evil Dead and Annabelle puts this movie to shame IMHO..
Chappie (2015)
I Am Confused Here ..
It amazes me how we as movie watchers can have such a drastic scale of a movie from 0 to 10.
I totally agree with Steven Harms statement on people rating movies they have not seen.
How in the world can 2 movie critics be so far apart on rating these movies?? There definitely has to be some type of sub-class or other scale to rate these movies. A movie either has good entertainment, good acting, good effects, good story line, good ending, OR NOT.
There are so many personal ratings on IMDb now, it is crazy! One rater comes in at 10 and the other at 0..
I'm assuming it all balances at the end? I have been mislead on more than a few ratings here in regards to my statement on a movie being good or not.
I understand each rater has their own opinion, but honestly this will have to be a quite terrible movie for me to rate it as low as a 5. For me 5 is a bad movie and anything less would be terrible.
Annie (2014)
Real Critics Don't Rate with 1's
It is a shame many have to offset a movie ratings with exaggerated numbers to attempt to get a reasonable rating outcome for some movies.
I still don't get why IMDb allow 1 or 2 ratings out of a perfect 10.
There are some very poor so called movies in the world, however, we have to get off of the dumb 1 ratings because a movie has personal issues with some movie opinions.
OK, a 1 out of 5 would make sense for someone who totally hate everything about a movie.
Yeah, I get it.. different faces and a breach away from the original Annie musical, OK, then we take away points for originality.. Well how about individual character acting, OK, then we slam points off for poor acting.. What about the feel and plot of the movie? Was it entertaining, maybe funny, interesting?
I'm making the point that Annie falls far short of originality, however, entertaining and acting was not sub-par worthy of a senseless 1 out of ten..
I have seen too many movie ratings ruined by people personal 1 out of ten ratings which should be more of a 4 or 5 out of 10. And I also know the reverse of some people like myself who may rate a movie 10 just to offset those ridiculous 1 out of 10 ratings.
Anyhow, the movie was good for an updated version of Annie, great entertainment for the family. It definitely deserves better ratings than a 3 or lower.
I recommend this movie for great family entertainment and a twist of the original Annie.
O (2001)
Wow.. Has Rating Movies Gotten This Bad?
I can't judge what others, and some "So Called" critics, use as their sole rating of movies etc.. however, for this movie to receive less than a 6 is absolute ridiculous in my opinion.
This has been a great movies collection for me for a number of years. I think it is drama at it's best with an modern re-script that wasn't all that bad. As the movie really had a heart felt ending that many movies as of post 2000 fail to do. This is exactly how Shakespeare wanted viewers to feel in regards to Othello.
I'm no pro on how well he or she should act in a movie, but I would say Mekhi, Josh, and Julia Stiles did a quite a dam good job on their roles with this movie.
Anyhow, each to their own as to how they rate a movie. Believe it or not there are probably over 70% of movie viewers who don't give much a flick about how well a actor/actress acted but how well the movie made them felt and was the plot and ending worth the watch.
There really need to be a double standard on movie ratings.. Judgement on the Acting and Judgement on the overall movie plot and ending. You must agree there have been some quite poor acting in movies that however grossed well and many watch over and over. Just my opinion.
Fruitvale Station (2013)
Fruitvale And Other Decent Movies
I believe the movie was genuinely put together to give the audience a movie of heartfelt emotion in which come far and few nowadays in the movie industry.
Yes, it could have been a documentary, however, I see nothing wrong with handing this over as a legit widescreen theater entertainment movie. We Need More Movies Like This..
With that said, I wish there could be something done about movie ratings being shot down below a 5 in regards to IMDb.
Let's face it, I would normally consider a bad scripted movie, or a garbage movie. at a rating of 5.
Some critics and/or movie raters will actually hash a movie down to 1 or 2 stars just to offset a movie that possibly have a majority rating of at least 7 or better. I think this should be addressed. In some cases I've steered away from a few decent scripted movies all because they were hashed down by a few very low stars because of that critic's personal garbage view of a movie that a majority may not agree with.
I would say 5 or 4 should be the lowest IMDb should allow users to rate a so-called crappy movie. This would give a Fair balanced rating system if a majority rate the same movie as good.
If you are a real critic on movies, wouldn't you agree a 4 or 5 rating is crap for a movie?
This movie clearly deserves a rating better than 5 even if one feel it is in the wrong venue of movie category.
