The Tomorrow War (2021)
Fantastic Sci fi
I just finished watching this and honestly found it to be one of the best films I have seen in a very long time. Long action scenes, well designed alien creatures and a good storyline. I was sceptical of it only being a 12 rating for a Sci fi but I was really pleasantly surprised. Yes it's long but it didn't drag and actually managed to get me to put my phone down and hold my attention.
Believe Me: The Abduction of Lisa McVey (2018)
Truly heartbreaking, what a brilliant young woman!!!!
I found this is a very hard watch knowing it is based on a true story. The main actress giving a harrowing performance and really makes you care for her. What the real victim was able to think to do in such a traumatic time is utterly incredible. Her family is vile (apart from her sister) and it broke my heart to think people actually go through such a horrific life. As I said, a very hard watch but brilliantly executed.
A Quiet Place Part II (2020)
Jump scares galore
So much better than the first film which to be honest I found a tad boring. Definitely one to watch in the cinema, the dark, big screen and extra loud volume makes the atmosphere so much more intense. A good few tension buildings moments leading to big jump scares. It does finish rather abruptly but obviously setting the seen for a third installment. I fun, nerve wracking treat after the months of lockdown.
I See You (2019)
Stick with it!!!!
The first 3rd of the film keeps your attention, not going to lie I was very close to turning the film off at around 50 min in. Once the first secret is revealed and the filming style changes you think you know everything and feel a bit cheated. If you can get through this part of the film you will be really glad you stuck with it. So many open mouth moments and things you didn't see coming at all. Brilliant ending and I am so glad I persevered
The Frozen Ground (2013)
Captivating thriller
I was pleasantly surprised by this film. The acting is fantastic especially Vanessa Hudgens. Nicolas Cage is far from his usual manic over acting and really portrays a caring cop. Knowing this is based on real life facts makes it so much more interesting and I foumd myself desperate to know how the story would end. It is filmed with real sympathy for the victims and it deserves credit for being a fantastic film
Deep Blue Sea 3 (2020)
Least sharky shark film ever
Only sat through this as I paid money for it on Prime. I love a good shark film but unfortunately this was anything but. The original deep blue sea is one of my favourites and considering how many years later this has been made I was shocked by how awful the graphics are. The CGI is dreadful, barely any shark action and awful acting. It was impossible to care what happened to anyone in the film, there is no sense of suspense and all in all it is just a very poorly made film
Bad Boys for Life (2020)
Perfect development of the Bad Boys characters
To anyone giving this a low score, I can only assume you were not around when the original movie came out. Having grown up in the time period between the first in the franchise and this film I am really able to appreciate the real life timeline development of the characters. Knowing the difference between Will Smith and Martin Lawrence's characters you can see that this film perfectly depicts how they would have changed over the years. The film still has great chemistry between them, loads of action and the dry humour you would expect. I thoroughly enjoyed it and would recommend to anyone
47 Meters Down: Uncaged (2019)
Fantastic shark film!!!!
Yes it's a bit silly in places and no I dont know how the people talk to each other under water, bit wow what a fab shark film. Really claustrophobic and some great jump scenes. Ignore the bad reviews and give it a go. I was really pleasantly surprised
Spider-Man: Far from Home (2019)
Fantastic action scenes
This film was so much better than I anticipated. Yes there is the underlying soppy high school mush but overall it is a brilliant super hero action film. Tom Holland is again brilliant as our web wielding hero and Jake Gyllanhall give a great performance too. The action scences are amazing and have excellent cgi moments. Overall great fun and well worth a watch
Avengers: Endgame (2019)
Such a let down 😪
I am a huge Marvel fan and have loved the previous Avengers films so went with high Hope's for this, unfortunately I was disappointed beyond belief. Long, slow, dull scences make up most of the movie with only about 10 minutes of actual action. Main characters are sidetracked for less popular ones and the whole film moves at a snail's pace. It really felt like they had run out of ideas and this is just a money making film. So, so let down and would not recommend.. recommend it to anyone
Extremely Wicked, Shockingly Evil and Vile (2019)
Not what I expected
This film does not really go into all the horrific things Ted Bundy did but more focuses on how he managed to fool people into thinking he was a normal human being. The main characters do a good job but if you are looking for action and and a reasoning into the mind of a killer look elsewhere. Jim Parson as a straight guy does not work as all I could see was Sheldon Cooper acting as a solicitor. All in all it is an interesting watch but the thing I will take away is seeing the names of the confirmed victims at the end and a disbelief that one man could manage to get away with the kills for so long
Escape Room (2019)
Brilliant film
I actually really enjoyed this. A breath of fresh air in today's remakes and sequels. The film moves at a good pace and gives unknown actors the chance to showcase their talents. Set up for a sequel and a good way to spend an evening
Glass (2019)
McAvoy is AMAZING
James McAvoy is a fantastic actor and is really showcased in this film. He carrys the other actors in what turned out to be a bit of a let down in the end. A good film that could have been great
Robin Hood (2018)
Fun action movie
I don't get all the bad reviews. Doesn't have much to do with Robin Hood as we previously knew him (basically just the names) but the film moves at a good pace and I found it hugely entertaining. Does help the Taron is very easy on the eye but I thoroughly enjoyed this film
The Equalizer 2 (2018)
Nowhere near equal to the first
I loved the first Equaliser film and was really looking forward to this one. It turned out to be really slow paced with only a snippet of action the first film had. I didn't really follow the point of the baddies and was not really bothered by the outcome. In my opinionthis was a film that really did not need to be made.
The Meg (2018)
Dull and boring
Watched this last night at the cinema. Nothing happens for about 45 minutes really and most action in a out the last 10 minutes of the film. All the good bit have been shown in the trailers and apart from a few laughs (Not the ones the have tried to add but at how bad it is) I really could have given it a miss
Avengers: Infinity War (2018)
Awesome film
I was so looking forward to this film and it did not disappoint. Epic action scenes and just the right amount of humour. I enjoy the references to the other Marvel films and I would say this is my second favourite (after Thor Ragnarok). Can not wait for the second and make sure you stat til after the end credits finish
Deadpool 2 (2018)
Good but not Great
I did enjoy watching this film and some bits were ace. Still and good mix of action and humour, I just feel it was missing something.
Some bits were far too soppy for my liking and it is more of a team effort than the main character carrying the film like in the first one.
Glad I saw it and did enjoy it but would not rush to watch it again
