As a huge fan of action films and a fan of the Expendables franchise, I found this movie to be a huge disappointment. The acting was utterly terrible (not that I was expecting award winning performances). Many of the fight sequences didn't flow and came across as awkward. The humor was forced and therefore just wasn't funny. The story was so overly predictable as to take away from any possible movie suspense. The directing was atrocious. If this is the course for the franchise I won't be anticipating the next installment. I guess it is just another example of turn out a movie for the sake of turning out a movie.
I wasn't quite sure what to expect when I came across this movie. It is relatively low budget. I am unfamiliar with the actors in it. It is listed as a thriller but the movie is quite predictable. The acting is mediocre at best. The plot is pretty straightforward and there is the occasional plot twist. The action sequences are so so. As such, the movie fails to be anything but mediocre. It had potential and does have a little entertainment value. It needed a bit of oomph here and there to bring it to the next level. I am not sure why this movie was listed under the horror section on Paramount +. If you decide to watch it , don't have high expectations.
It seems animated movies have taken a major step above live action films. This movie is a good example of this. It has a nice animation style, with visuals that can be visually stunning. For the most part the storyline is cohesive but at times can be somewhat choppy and even confusing. The dialogue is purposeful and can be thought provoking. The pace of the film is at times slow. Action sequences are well done. Is it an epic animation film? No, but demonstrates a consistent commitment to being entertaining. It can be quite light hearted but does so without being ridiculous or outright silly. If you enjoy tales of mythology and animation, I do believe you will enjoy this.
