Wild Mountain Thyme, with a beautiful song by the same name, is set in rural Ireland where people are gentle and kind. The movie is about birth and death and all the love in between. It stars two of my favorite actors: Emily Blunt and Christopher Walkin. Each made me cry when Rosemary (Emily) sang to Tom Reilly (Christopher) Wild Mountain Thyme, which was a favorite of his greatly missed and deceased wife. An entire life's story can be seen in Christopher's eyes as he reacted to Emily's performance, owing to his ability to inhabit a character so completely. I love Rosemary's fiery ness. She is a force of nature. A true white swan. Until this movie, m I'd forgotten Emily not only sings but sings brilliantly. Every note was delivered with tenderness.
I will watch Wild Mountain Thyme again no doubt. It is packed with soul and revelation - charming from beginning to end.

Ever since I watched A Man In Full earlier today Ive been asking myself why Jeff Daniels and Diane Lane would appear in this film. They are far better actors than the story permitted. The characters could have been rolled out in full but I got the sense there might have been a difference in opinion between King (Director) and Kelly (writer). It didn't seem like the same production at times. The tone and "styling" of the movie was odd. Most annoying were the choices in music. Every song belonged in another film. Add to that, the music in the background of scenes was loud and far too jazzy.
... And was it really necessary to show Raymond's exaggerated penis?
Lastly, I have to criticize Jeff Daniels' accent. Not all southern accents are the same. Jeff's accent in particular was hard to understand, at times. Thank goodness for the subtitles option.
