Newton's adventure into the politics of the election process and the different perspectives to the process by its stakeholders expose the major glitches in the system without trying to pontificate; rather all this is related in a very humorous and humane way. It is a view with a long-term and sympathetic perspective and is also reinforced when the lady polling officer specifically tells it. This, I think, is a very good way to tell a story without getting people's hackles up and it urges us to be reflective with humour aiding the decision making process. An excellent story-telling and supported by relatively non glamorous actors.
All that was a way of life for the Calcutta of the turbulent 70's, reincarnated in the modern day life with the "spoofiness" Anik Dutta is so characterized by, is all mixed in this delicious mix of mystery thriller. I guess, Anik gets carried away with his sense of pun to let you know and question the riddle. Extremely enjoyable for all us who grew up with in Calcutta to savor the various levels of meaning and flavor on a rain drenched day - specially with some banter fry.
