Autumn leaves at Shindaibutsuji Temple

Event date: October to November

The autumn chrysanthemums bloom from mid-October (until early November), and the autumn leaves of maple trees, which are over 200 years old, decorate the entire mountain.

Shindaibutsu-ji Temple is an old temple opened in the Kamakura period by Shunjobo Chogen Shonin, the founder of Nara's Todaiji Chuo Revitalization. You will be greeted by the Important Cultural Property ``Birushana Butsu (Great Buddha)'' created by Buddhist sculptor Kaikei, the 6m tall ``Iwaya Fudo Myooson'', and the Great Nio statue at daimon.
