When developing a disaster recovery plan for State Line Auto Auction, I knew we were in a flood zone, and a rural area with rural problems. Considering the geography of the site, we were able to save money by locating a secondary server room far enough away, but still within the same structure, and fire or flood wouldn't affect both areas at the same time. We also had to consider frequent power outages so we started with a robust battery backup system and backup generation system. Finally, all last-mile fiber offerings were physically on the same infrastructure so redundant internet had to be provided by a different technology. We ended up going with business 5g which also allowed us to load balance our WAN connection.

Always consider where the company and technology needs will be in the next 3-5 years. I'm not saying you need cat 8 wire everywhere you plan on expanding, but I wouldn't go putting in cat 5 wire either. If it's a direct switch to switch connection, consider using fiber; even if you don't need the speed at the moment, a quick SFP connector swap is an easier upgrade when/if you do and is far more cost effective than re-laying wire in the walls.
