🌍 Today is #WorldStrokeDay, an important day to remind everyone of the staggering numbers related to stroke worldwide: 👉12 million people have a stroke worldwide each year❗ 👉6.6 million people die each year globally due to a stroke❗ 👉1 in 4 people will have a stroke in their lifetime❗ 👉Up to 90% of strokes are preventable❗ 📋Some things you can do to help avoid getting a stroke? 1. Manage your blood pressure and cholestoral level! 2. Maintain a healthy weight! 3. If you smoke, quit! 4. Exercise regularly!!!! ❤️The theme for this year from the World Stroke Organization is the power of sport for both the prevention of stroke as well as for rehabilitation after a stroke. 🏆That's where we come in! 🏋️♀️For over a decade we've been developing interactive Exergames for stroke survivors, allowing them to play Gamified Exercises from hospital to home as part of their process of recovery. 💪Many stroke survivors have said using EvolvRehab reminds them of going to the gym and getting a good workout. Can't beat that compliment! #GreaterThanStroke #worldstrokeday #StrokeRecovery #StrokePrevention

  • 📊This published study provides more evidence of the importance of providing Acquired Brain Injury (ABI) patients with faster access to inpatient rehabilitation and its role in achieving better clinical outcomes. 🏠The majority of patients who have suffered an ABI will require long-term complex rehabilitation after release from hospital. In the UK, this will most likely take place in patients' homes through NHS community rehabilitation services. Unfortunately, patients will often not receive enough rehabilitation time at home during this important period after the brain injury has occured. ⚡That's where the EvolvRehab exergaming platform can build upon the improvements achieved in hospital by providing ABI patients greater dose and intensity of personalised therapy in the comfort of their own home. 👏Congratulations to Dr Lloyd Bradley from the Royal Hospital for Neuro-disability (RHN) and Sally Wheelwright from the University of Sussex for the publication of this important work. 🤝We're proud of the fact that the RHN has been using EvolvRehab successfully for many years with their ABI patients and providing us with important feedback and ideas. • I'm very proud that EvolvRehab has gone from a one-off project developed over a decade ago to help persons living with Multiple Sclerosis, to a product used in over 20 countries to help persons living with a wide variety of health conditions.   For those of you who don't know, “Neurodivergent” describes people whose brains work differently because of medical conditions and learning disabilities. Those who aren’t Neurodivergent are considered “neurotypical.”   Some examples of underlying conditions of persons described as Neurodivergent include Autism, ADHD, Down syndrome, Dyslexia, Dyspraxia, Intellectual disabilities, Sensory processing disorders and Tourette syndrome.   Our goal conitnues to be that EvolvRehab help as many people as possible who have a chronic healthcare condition that could benefit from therapeutic activity, so it’s great to see that extends to our Neurodivergent population. In our latest company post, we look at how EvolvRehab can benefit Neurodivergent persons by providing them structured exercise routines through Exergaming activities. Have a look 👇 #Neurodivergent #Exergaming #virtualrehabilitation

🌍 𝗖𝗲𝗹𝗲𝗯𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱 𝗠𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗛𝗲𝗮𝗹𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗮𝘆 𝟮𝟬𝟮𝟰 🌍 ❓ So, why would Evolv, a company in the field of physical rehabilitation through Exergames, want to discuss mental health? 🎯 It’s simple. Mental health plays a vital role in improving patient outcomes in neurorehabilitation. 👉 Although physical recovery is often the focus in neurorehabilitation and a way of measuring progress, mental well-being is equally crucial in the recovery journey for many people, and is often more difficult to measure. ✔️ Research shows a strong link between mental health and recovery outcomes in neurorehabilitation. Studies highlight that patients with positive mental health tend to experience better cognitive and functional recovery. ‼️A number of studies indicate that addressing depression and anxiety early in stroke rehabilitation can help improve long-term recovery and quality of life, although they do stress futher studies with larger cohorts are necessary. 👩🏽⚕️👨🏻⚕️ Neuropsychologists play an important role in recovery as counselling helps patients manage the emotional impact of their conditions which can help promote better recovery. 🪄 We try to do our bit of helpinng to reduces stress and anxiety, and persons using EvolvRehab often comment that the use of gamified therapy helps reduce feelings of monotony by delivering a fun and interactive experience. This is espcially true for telerehab patients using EvolvRehab at home. 📈By prioritizing both mental and physical health in neurorehabilitation, healthcare providers can better ensure patients have a greater opportunity to recover more fully, live more independently and enjoy a better quality of life. #WorldMentalHealthDay #Neurorehabilitation #MentalHealthMatters #Rehabilitation #StrokeRecovery #MentalHealth #virtualrehabilitation

🔔🔔Today, 1 October, is the International Day of Older Persons. This year's theme is "𝗔𝗴𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘄𝗶𝘁𝗵 𝗗𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆: 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗜𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗰𝗲 𝗼𝗳 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗻𝗴𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗖𝗮𝗿𝗲 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝘂𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁 𝗦𝘆𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗺𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗢𝗹𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻𝘀 𝗪𝗼𝗿𝗹𝗱𝘄𝗶𝗱𝗲". 📈 The number of people globally aged 65 years or older is expected to grow from 761 million in 2021 to 𝟭.𝟲 𝗯𝗶𝗹𝗹𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗶𝗻 𝟮𝟬𝟱𝟬! The number of people who are 80 years or older is actually growing even faster. 🏥 Getting older can mean more opportunities to do the things one enjoys, but that often depends on the health of each person as they age. Unfortunately, age-related health conditions such as stroke, dementia, frailty and falls are all on the rise, and greatly diminish quality of life for older adults and their families. 🚶🏼That's why on this day of Older Persons, it's important to remember the benefits of maintaining a healthy lifestyle right into old age. This includes engaging in regular physical activity, which can help reduce care dependency later in life. 🚩We're proud of the fact that EvolvRehab has been used around the world for over a decade to help older adults increase their level of physical fitness, reduce frailty and falls and improve quality of life of stroke survivors.
