Huida's next-generation AI chip was revealed to be delayed by three months before mass production. Nvidia's next-generation Blackwell architecture AI flagship chip, the GB200, will face a delay of at least three months before mass production due to design defects. An undisclosed Microsoft employee indicated that Nvidia informed Microsoft of the shipment delays last week. This delay affects major tech companies, including Google, which ordered over 400,000 chips with a value exceeding $10 billion, and Meta, which also placed a $10 billion order. The GB200 chip includes two interconnected Blackwell GPUs and a Grace CPU. The design flaw was identified by TSMC engineers during preparations for mass production, resulting in the need for design adjustments and new trial production. Initially expected to begin mass production in the third quarter and shipments in the fourth quarter, the timeline has now shifted to mass production in the fourth quarter and shipments postponed to the first quarter of the following year. #AI #Taiwan https://lnkd.in/gYXSTeqg

Most major tech companies are at Computex in Taiwan this week, and we're seeing a flood of announcements. The industry is buzzing following Jensen Huang's announcement of the next-generation Rubin GPU platform and associated Vera Arm CPUs. These will replace Grace, Hopper, and Grace Hopper as NVIDIA's scalable AI platform in 2026 and beyond. Led by Zilin Bian and Prof. Kaan Ozbay, a C2SMARTER research study was recently selected for inclusion in NVIDIA's Academic Grant Program. The project, titled NanoDT: A High-Fidelity, Cost-Efficient Simulation for Emergency Response, involves constructing a Digital Twin simulation of Downtown Brooklyn to improve real-time emergency response capabilities. The team will utilize predictive technologies to effectively manage disruptions such as traffic accidents and mitigate their impact. By exploring the high-performance computing resources from NVIDIA, this project aims to accelerate the real-time emergency response and deliver instant management strategies to enhance transportation safety as well as urban infrastructure resilience. Meta just released Llama 3.2, a major update to its AI model lineup! This new version includes both lightweight models designed for mobile and edge devices, and larger models with vision capabilities. For the first time, Llama models can now analyze images along with text, opening up more possibilities for AI applications. The smaller models (1B and 3B) are optimized for on-device tasks, while the larger 11B and 90B models can perform advanced tasks like image recognition and visual question answering.
