🙋 Glad to see Department of Science & Technology, Government of India in a recent piece refer to our research around how SCTIMST build the biomedical innovation ecosystem in India over 1976-1995 period. This was published in JPIM Journal of Product Innovation Management, link to full article in comment. SCTIMST is a pioneering government research institution in #India. It is a remarkable story of how a handful of scientists with limited resources successfully commercialised multiple low-cost biomedical devices such as heart valves, blood bags and oxygenators in 1980s and 1990s of India adopting #frugalinnovation approaches. Dark Patterns in Marketing, please be careful, read the full story in Telugu as well as English also. Dark patterns are a popular design element but are difficult to define. Because they have become so prevalent that many have adopted them as design conventions. Understanding these manipulative techniques is critical to creating ethical products that build customer trust. As designers, we use our expertise to create practical and intuitive user experiences. This means using persuasive design patterns to encourage customers toward decisions that benefit our clients, such as completing purchases or upgrading services. Persuasive models may include creating a sense of scarcity, using social proof to build trust, and rewarding customers to instil a sense of accomplishment. As long as it helps customers achieve what they want to achieve, a positive characteristic of effective design is persuasiveness. But things get dark when design patterns conflict, forcing customers to make decisions that violate their intentions or best interests. What are Dark Patterns? Simply put, dark patterns are carefully designed interfaces that trick people into making decisions or taking actions they otherwise wouldn't. Dark patterns range from subtle errors to outright lies, but what they all have in common is that they hurt consumers' intentions and cost them time or money they never would have otherwise spent.

Nested Multidimensionality of Reality 1. The fundamental reality is atoms. At the atomic level, an atomic structure is an aggregation of the high probability electron orbits(as measuring electrons at their orbit is impossible). 2. As atoms bind to form more stable structures such as protein chains, such chains have more fixed structure, but still there is a dynamism within, but reduced. Now you are seeing lattice and not electrons. 3. As reality constructs higher from cytoplast, to nucleoids, to cells, to multiple-cells, to organs, structures have lesser dynamism in comparison to their underneath structure. 4. So, for an average individual, an image is just an image. However, an image is evolved through thousands of layers, with their respective dynamism. 5. Therefore any information is essentially a set of frequencies(1-D signals). So consider image as many sound signals stitched together. 6. An information at the atomic level is a predicted possible state of an atom, and at the image level a possible state of all the atoms inside you and outside you that your internal atoms can interact with. C. What is Real? 1. Because everything, every existence, I,you, everyone, all jungles, animals, is just a possibility as fundamentally existence of an electron in the specific orbit can never be decided, our brain has to attach a weight to everything we see, hear, feel. 2. They are not real, but brain believes them to be real based on the weight. 3. The weights are also probabilities, which become higher as the patterns are repeated. So, anything you see for the first time is a shock, but if you have observed them 1000 times, they tend towards certainty. Therefore, reality is a probability distribution function between shock and certainty. D. Evolution of Information 1. Hearing=>Vision=>Talking=>Expressions=>Language=>Comprehension. 2. So, one whose sense of reality comes from purely what they hear will have more uncertainty and shock, and those who will construct multidimensional reality from hearing to comprehension will have more certainty. 3. Those with under-developed pre-frontal cortex will be more shocked but will pretend to be certain. (Average population). E. Depth When you hear a song, you may have a feeling of overall expression of the song, or can separate Rhythm and Pitch, or can decode the running notes, or can construct a far rich reality of all instruments and voices separated and their pitch, notes and rhythm decoded, based on your practice of music. Intelligence ∝ Depth. Dumbness ∝ Lack of Depth Stupidity ∝ Strong belief of Lack of Depth as the actual reality. F. Talk Spectrum {Intelligent, Dumb, Stupid}. So, stupids talks more both externally(from mouth) and internally(within brain).

CO2 Sequestration [Viscous-Fingering; Capillary-Fingering] 1.  Are we critically deciding the resultant phase (gas/liquid/super-critical) of injected CO2 into the formations (deep saline aquifers; depleted oil/gas reservoirs; unminable coal seems) – ‘solely’ as functions of aquifer/reservoir temperature and pressure? Or ‘CO2 storage capacity’ will be also taken into account? 2.  Following the injection of CO2 into saturated subsurface formations, CO2 would try to displace the existing pore fluids that remain to be more viscous than the injected CO2. If so, then, to what extent, Capillary Number and Viscosity Ratio would try to define the resulting displacement pattern of the immiscible fluids, if (a) Velocity of the invading fluid keeps changing with space and time? (b) IFT between CO2 and brine keeps fluctuating significantly? (c) Contact angle of brine on a substrate associated with a drainage condition remains varying? (d) Viscosity values of CO2 and brine keep varying significantly with time and space? How easy would it remain to measure IFT and contact angle of brine on rock surface – surrounded by gaseous/liquid/super-critical CO2 - @ field conditions – towards obtaining Capillary number and Viscosity ratio? 3.  How do we have a control over - capturing the combination of viscous and capillary forces @ field-scale that would essentially dictate the resulting displacement pattern (viscous-fingering/capillary-fingering/stable displacement)? How exactly to delineate the phase-boundaries for the respective displacement pattern – with varying pore-size distribution and aquifer geometry? With evolving aquifer/reservoir pore-geometry, whether, Capillary fingering would only occur under a relatively lower CO2 injection rates, irrespective of Viscosity ratio? 4.  As the viscosity of CO2 being lesser than brine (viscous fingering develops during CO2 injection as the viscosity values of gaseous, liquid and super-critical CO2 generally remain to be orders of magnitude smaller than brine viscosity @ field pressure/temperature conditions), following viscous fingering, whether CO2 – by default – would flow through the least resistive pathways – in the absence of sweeping the most of the brine, which remains located out of the least resistive or preferential pathways? In such cases, how easy would it remain to deduce the resultant displacement efficiency (as a function of Capillary number and viscosity ratio)? Feasible to control CO2 flow pattern in order to obtain maximum displacement efficiency? Or CO2-water foams be used to attain stable-displacement and to enhance brine sweeping? How exactly to deduce the displacement ratio (which involves CO2 saturation after breakthrough) – in transition zones (the crossover zone between capillary-fingering and viscous-fingering; or, between viscous-fingering and stable-displacement) @ field-scale? Met Vineeta on February 8, 2024, one month before the telecast aired. Our interaction highlighted three key insights: 1.
