Job Summary:

Project Architects will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to plan, design, and facilitate the execution of new building designs, building expansions, or renovations according to clients’ needs, desires, and financial resources. Watts Leaf Architects is the Charlotte Office of Kaas Wilson based in Phoenix and Minneapolis. We are a Specialty Housing Firm passionate about Senior, Affordable, Renovation, Sustainable, and Multi-Family Housing projects in three regions of the country. Duties/Responsibilities

• Engage in preparing drawings and specification documents for the Conceptual Design Phase, Schematic Design Phase, and/or the Detailed Design Phase of a project. Independently apply advanced architectural concepts and designs.
• Collaborate with consultants and clients to facilitate the building process to meet clients’ specifications.
• Own specific technical design aspects of an assigned major project, including investigation, evaluation, and recommendation of design solutions that best meet the client’s needs.
• Create detailed plans integrating engineering, electrical, and HVAC considerations; present plans to clients for review and approval.
• Develop plans and schedules; collaborate on the planning, design, and coordination of large or complex projects.
• Assist in research and coordination of materials and products for project specifications.
• Carry out complex or novel assignments requiring the development of new or improved techniques and procedures.
• Work in tandem with highly collaborative multi-discipline teams.
• Attend meetings with owner and contractor periodically throughout the project as required by the Project Manager; write meeting minutes.
• Maintain ongoing communication to understand any project changes, design issues, or time/budget constraints that may impact the initial assignment; write project scope.
• Assure overall quality, completeness, and accuracy of Construction Documents.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
  
  

Requirements

Required Skills/Abilities:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Extremely proficient with Revit and project-supportive software.
• Preferred experience in Enscape and/or Lumion.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
• Excellent problem-solving, negotiation, and consultation skills.
• Ability to translate client ideas into visual and/or tangible references such as drawings or models.
• Strong organization, multi-tasking, and time management skills.
• Familiarity with building construction processes.
• Ability to collaborate with both internal and external stakeholders.
  
  

Education And Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture required, Master’s degree strongly preferred.
• At least five years of relevant experience.
• Active board licensure is preferred.
  
  

Physical Requirements

• Prolonged periods sitting or standing at a desk and working on a computer.
• Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
