Director of Wellness & Accessibility Services

The Cleveland Institute of Art (CIA) invites applications for the full-time position of Director of Wellness & Accessibility Services. Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Director of Wellness and Accessibility Services plays a key role in ensuring students have the accommodations they need by interpreting and applying the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, in unison with our college's policies. Specialized work will depend on the needs assessment of each student but may include: reviewing disability documentation, determining eligibility for accessibility services, providing reasonable accommodations, assisting students with adaptive technology, facilitating the transition between high school and college, developing educational plans, creating trainings and workshops for the college community, and ensuring equal access to promote the successful integration of students with disabilities in the college learning environment. Additionally, the Director provides direct and indirect services to students experiencing social and emotional problems. The Director collaborates with all colleagues to improve campus access and equity

The Director of Wellness & Accessibility Services works closely with various campus offices, including Academic Advising, Admissions, Student Life, and Academic Affairs to help students with disabilities thrive. The successful candidate will participate in orientation sessions for incoming students and facilitate workshops on the resources available to students at CIA. This individual will provide social skills, stress reduction or other similar instruction to students who are experiencing social/emotional problems that interfere with their learning or the ability of others to learn as well as short-term individual and group counseling to students who are experiencing social/emotional problems.

A Master's Degree, or higher, in Counseling, Social Work, Special Education, Psychology, Sociology, Higher Education Administration, Student Affairs, or related field is required. Three (3) years of experience in a higher education setting leading or providing accommodations for students with disabilities. Case management or advising experience; ability to provide expertise and leadership for supporting the academic, social-emotional, physical, and behavioral development of all students. Knowledge of social work theories and topics used in daily best practice and a curiosity to maintain currency in the field

Compensation

This is a full-time, exempt position. Compensation is commensurate with experience and qualifications. CIA offers a benefit package including; vacation, sick, and personal time accrual, as well as additional time off while the college is closed during winter break. CIA offers health and dental insurance, life and disability insurance, 403B retirement contribution, tuition remission, free campus parking, and inter-museum council discounts.
