Information Technology Specialist

Under the direction of the Chief Financial Officer and working closely with the Network Manager to ensure that the organization’s network system remains secure to protect the confidentiality of staff and customers. Day-to-day responsibilities vary but include conducting audits, reviewing policies, developing policies, and support to staff. The Information Technology Specialist works under moderate supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgement.



ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • The application of systems analysis techniques and procedures, including consulting with users, to determine hardware, software, or system functional specifications.
  • The design, development, documentation, analysis, creation, testing, or modifications of computer systems or programs based on and related to user or system design specifications.
  • The design, documentation, testing, creation, or modification of computer programs.
  • Anticipate and report costs of replacing and or updating computer items.
  • Provide application support.
  • Assist in maintaining websites, and organization databases.
  • Enforces compliance with Cyber security and confidentiality policies and procedures.
  • Conducts audits to determine security violations or vulnerabilities.
  • Implements security controls.
  • Upgrades networks to cohere with industry best practices.
  • Develops or maintains firewalls for network infrastructure.
  • Completes risk assessment on infrastructure and designs, system to maintain security of organizations data and information.
  • Review and develop policies to ensure staff are following security controls.
  • Performs related work as assigned.


DESIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:


  • Advance knowledge of MS office suite of products, i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Publisher, Access, Power Point, etc.
  • Solid knowledge of operating systems including Windows 10
  • Experience with troubleshooting hardware, software, and peripheral equipment.
  • Knowledge of Security Information, anti-virus, firewalls, and cybersecurity
  • Must have excellent organizational, oral, and written communication skills.
  • Ability to solve problems
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
  • Excellent analytical skills
  • Ability to travel frequently within the 12-county area and occasionally within Texas.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds



REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, AND/OR LICENSES:


  • Associate degree in Computer Science or related field, plus at least one year of experience related to the essential functions of the position.


OR


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field, or its equivalent, preferred at least one year of experience in systems or services related to the essential functions of the position.


OR


  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skill, and abilities.

  • A valid Texas Driver’s License
