"Recognition and Appreciation for Our Dedicated Social & Case Workers" As the summer temperatures rise, I want to take a moment to express my sincere appreciation for the incredible social & case workers who tirelessly serve vulnerable populations in our communities. These dedicated professionals work long hours, often conducting field and home visits in the oppressive heat, to support individuals and families in need of critical social services. Whether it's child protection, gender-based violence support, healthcare access, emergency shelter, or other vital social services - our case workers put in tremendous effort to ensure those who are most at-risk receive the care and resources they require. Their work is physically and emotionally demanding, yet they approach each interaction with compassion, diligence and a resolute commitment to making a difference. They are the unsung heroes who go above and beyond, even when faced with daunting challenges. To all the social & case workers out there - thank you. Your work does not go unnoticed or unappreciated. You are making an invaluable impact, and your contributions to supporting the most vulnerable members of our society are truly inspiring. Please know that your efforts are recognized and celebrated. You are making the world a better place, one person at a time. Keep up the amazing work - your communities are better because of you. #CaseWorkers #socialworkers #FrontlineWorkers #casework #socialwork #SocialServices #VulnerablePopulations #ChildProtection #protection #GenderBasedViolence #gbv #Shelter #MentalHealth #Health #accesstojustice #CommunitySupport #HumanRights #MakingADifference #ThankYou

There’s a (economic) cliff coming for survivors of abuse: For survivors of war, who have no livelihood after the guns fall silent and most aid organizations move on to other crises. For survivors of childhood abuse, who’ve aged out of foster care and have no more safety net. For survivors of human trafficking, who don’t have what they need to land a stable job after rescue and recovery. Countless agencies are doing the vital work of rescue and recovery. Countless businesses have job openings that could be the next chapter for a survivor, after rescue and recovery. But there’s a gap between the two, and few survivors seem to be making it across that gap. #vulnerabletoviable #thecliffiscoming #stophumantrafficking

Founder of 3Pumpkins, Tak Takut Kids Club. Usually found at the playgrounds, hawker centre and multi-purpose court in Boon Lay.
#socialworker #communityworker #police #villageofcare We encountered a rather complicated case of family aggression on the ground today, alarm raised by the child. Fortunately, we have a working system with SSO to share our database regularly so we know if the families are supported by SSO, FSC, or ComLink+. The family social worker was called in immediately to mediate. A rather terse situation had to be managed by our community workers, but that’s story for another day. I’d focus today’s story on the family mediation led by the social worker. I directed everyone to our nearby office for a chat away from TTKC. 3 of us community workers supported 1 social worker to handle 2 mentally agitated and mildly unsound adults with 3 young children. We let the social worker lead the mediation between the adults, while each of us sat beside them to calm them down, did translations and also keep an eye on the children. We only led at the end to address next steps on keeping the children connected to TTKC as a protective factor. This reminded me of a time when I was in a situation, in a house where a drunken father was a menace to the family. There was 1 social worker, 2 community workers (us), and 8 (8!) police officers. These situations always make me wonder how lonely it can feel being a social worker handling complex family cases, the somewhat unbalanced resources and how TTKC can make it better known how we can support social workers. Increasingly, for the better, TTKC has been featured in children and family safety plans. As the community first responder focused on children well-being, we need to develop better protocols and trainings. That we can do, but the village of care really needs the police to be more upstream ally when it comes to safety in the community. It’s not a norm for community programmes to have KPIs in making environments safer for kids, and making social workers feel more supported to do their work better. These don’t seem like anything that render direct support to the children, but to do better for the kids, we really need to think beyond conventional programmes. If you know of anyone I can speak with to tap on community police resource, please drop me a text!
