InterAction was pleased to present the National Democratic Institute (NDI) Disability Inclusion Award 2024. NDI has a comprehensive approach that allows people with disabilities to set the agenda through political engagement—by ensuring people with disabilities are included and by centering and supporting disability-led organizations. NDI’s programs assist people with disabilities in taking organized political actions to address exclusionary institutions, laws, and processes.

Happy Friday! A month ago, we celebrated the International Day of Persons with Disabilities. However, I truly believe that creating awareness about disability inclusion should not be limited to a day or a month, but should be something we consistently bring to people's attention. Today, I am sharing this World Economic Forum article about the business case for disability inclusion. I personally believe it is important to include people with disabilities because it's the right thing to do. However, I understand that for some companies, it is crucial to highlight why they might be missing out on a vast pool of talent and potential revenue if they fail to include people with disabilities in their workforce and customer base. Click on the article, read about it, champion inclusion, and have a beautiful first weekend of 2024! #Diversity #Inclusion #DisabilityInclusion

🌟 Exciting Read Alert! 🌟 In my latest blog post, "Empowering Change: Enhancing Lives and Breaking Barriers for Disabled Americans," I dive deep into the heart of how definitions and perceptions of disability in the U.S. have evolved. Thanks to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), strides have been made toward creating a more inclusive society, but there's still much work to be done. This article sheds light on the ongoing journey towards empowerment and equality, from understanding the broad spectrum of disabilities to recognizing the personal and social impacts of self-identifying as disabled. I also touch on the importance of advocacy, education, and the collective effort needed to support and uplift disabled individuals in every aspect of public life. Whether you're passionate about accessibility and inclusivity or simply looking for ways to make a positive impact, this piece is a must-read. Together, let's celebrate diversity and work towards a world where everyone, regardless of their abilities, can lead fulfilling lives with dignity and respect. Read, reflect, and let's discuss how we can contribute to this vital cause. #DisabilityAwareness #Inclusivity #Accessibility #ADA #Empowerment https://lnkd.in/gqpQFDrB

We are honored to share this essential read from David Cross, Chair of Antitrust Litigation Practice at Morrison Foerster and a member of the Diversity Lab's Disability Advisory Council. David shares his experience as a lawyer with a disability, the negative stigmas still surrounding people with disabilities, and how law firms can break down barriers for people with disabilities. David writes that breaking down the barriers requires at least three significant steps: - Deliberate thoughtfulness towards people with disabilities and their needs. - A mindset shift in how those with disabilities are perceived. - Placing those with disabilities in leadership and decision-making positions.
