Sales focus is in getting the client to the altar at all costs. Marketing, who executes, gets to meet the client on wedding day. Marketing is fed up, because they’re the ones who will have to deal with the aftermath…when reality hits and the client starts whining they’re not getting what Sales promised. On top of it, marketing will get blamed for not delivering these promises and fixing it. When actually, a marketing counseling session BEFORE committing to marriage, to set expectations and get clarity on how the relationship will best work, would have set the relationship for success. Sales and marketing ARE NOT the same, and they MUST work together, to succeed.
Don't forget about the attribution...
