Businesses in every industry are under increasing pressure to advance and transform their IT environments, particularly with workloads running on mainframes. For many executives, the #mainframe is key to their operations due to its security, reliability and performance, but they also want to benefit from the flexibility, data accessibility and innovation the #cloud provides. Hence, they’re often looking for ways to modernize the mainframe platform and drive more value from it. To gain insights into the chosen strategies and the results of #mainframemodernization projects, Kyndryl commissioned Coleman Parkes Research to survey 500 business and IT leaders. Today, we are delighted to unveil the findings of this global survey and analysis of the current and future state of mainframe modernization for businesses! The survey shows that almost all respondents (95%) are moving at least some mainframe applications to cloud – on average 37% of their workloads – but only 1% are moving all of their workloads off the mainframe. Most organizations surveyed (90%) indicate that mainframes remain essential to their business operations. The survey also uncovers that modernization can yield many benefits to organizations.
