In the post-pandemic era, the uncertain global market and rising social-environmental issues drive organizations to adapt their supply chain strategies to more dynamic, flexible models, leveraging advanced technologies like AI, big data analytics, and decision support systems. This review paper aims to examine the current research on AI-integrated technologies in sustainable supply chain management (SSCM) to inform future research directions. We adopted bibliometric and text analysis, targeting 170 articles published between 2004 and 2023 from the Scopus database following the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) protocol. We confirm that AI-integrated technologies have demonstrated the capability to enable SSCM across various sectors. We generated ten future research topics using the Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) method and proposed 20 propositions. The results show that AI-integrated technologies in supply chain processes primarily address sustainability, focusing on environmental and economic issues. However, there is still a technological gap in tackling social issues like working conditions and fair dealing. Thus, we proposed a dynamic framework of AI in SSCM to help researchers and practitioners synthesize AI-integrated technologies in SSCM and optimize their supply chain models in future directions. Shaping safe and hygienic working conditions is the basic obligation of the employer. Employers are still looking for methods, tools, and solutions to improve work safety. The study reviews the literature on solutions aimed at improving occupational safety in construction. For this purpose, bibliometric analysis was used, consisting of the exploration and analysis of scientific studies in the field of occupational health and safety, including the possibility of using the LM tool to improve working conditions on construction sites. The study presents the possibility of implementing Lean Manufacturing (LM) tools in the construction industry. Their strengths and weaknesses were identified, and the benefits and possible barriers related to their effective implementation/use were identified. The result of the analyses was a summary of benefits for the construction industry (strengths and opportunities) as well as areas requiring improvement (weaknesses and hazards) regarding the LM tools used. Based on the conducted analyses, it was found that it is possible to use the tools of the LM concept to improve work safety and organize tasks performed on construction sites. The implementation of LM tools, such as 5S/6S, Poka-Yoke, and Standardization, enables risk reduction through a direct impact on the area being analyzed, in which occupational hazards have been identified. It is also noted that there is a need to simultaneously use LM tools (VM, Gemba-Walk, DHM) as solutions aimed at reducing risk. Full article

This study examines the current trajectory and future research directions of environmental, social, and governance (ESG) integration within the banking industry. Utilizing bibliometric and scientometric approaches, it highlights trend topics, influential studies, and notable contributors. Drawing from an analysis of 681 studies from Scopus and Web of Science databases, a comprehensive dataset was curated using scientometric networks with VOSviewer and Bibliometrix tools. This study emphasizes the evolving nature of ESG integration within banking, emphasizing an interdisciplinary shift encompassing environmental, social, and governance considerations. Keyword analysis reveals emerging trends, including the influence of ESG factors on banks’ financial performance, regional variations in ESG integration within banking, and risk assessment related to ESG factors and credit risk in banks. By offering insights into the evolving topic of ESG integration within banking and identifying promising avenues for further exploration, such as the fundamental connection between ESG and sustainability, particularly in climate change and green finance, this research contributes to ongoing discussions surrounding ESG integration in the banking industry, guiding future research efforts in this vital financial sector. Car wash wastewater (CWW) poses a significant environmental danger due to its high chemical oxygen demand (COD), heavy metals, and anionic surfactant complex composition, all of which can have an adverse effect on the environment. Even with the extensive research on CWW treatment, further study is necessary to improve our comprehension in this field. With an emphasis on CWW treatment processes and research trends, this study offers a comprehensive bibliometric analysis of 208 articles from the Scopus database. The analysis reveals that more than 55.77% of the research publications were released within the last five years, suggesting that there is increasing interest in the treatment of CWW. According to the data, the most important journal in this field is Desalination and Water Treatment. China and India were major research contributors. The main research directions in this area are properly indicated by the frequently used keywords “carwash wastewater”, “electrocoagulation”, “wastewater treatment”, and “water reuse”, according to an analysis of the keywords. Electrocoagulation, coagulation, and adsorption are common methods that are gaining popularity. In recent years, the most often researched CWW contaminants included those measured by COD and heavy metals. The results of this research offer an overview of recent developments. Full article

Confronted with the significant challenges of global climate change and environmental deterioration, the pursuit of carbon emission peaks and the realization of carbon neutrality have become a collective goal for countries worldwide. As an exemplary combustion technology noted for its efficiency and environmental friendliness, the circulating fluidized bed (CFB) is instrumental in curbing the release of carbon dioxide alongside other deleterious gases. The technology is pivotal in promoting the clean and efficient use of coal, simultaneously expediting the global shift towards a sustainable, green, and low-carbon future. This study employs a bibliometric analysis, a social network analysis, and information visualization techniques to delve into the evolution of CFB technology, leveraging the Web of Science database (SCI-EXPANDED and CPCI-S) and the Derwent Innovations Index (DII). Through a meticulous examination of academic papers and patent literature related to CFB technology, this research unveils the developmental trajectory and trends of CFB technology, providing a scientific foundation and reference for strategic technology planning and focused research in key areas. The findings indicate that, while there is a downward trend in the global publication of academic papers on CFB technology, the number of patent applications continues to grow steadily. CFB technology has achieved significant advancements in enhancing combustion efficiency, environmental protection, energy utilization, and waste management, and is progressing towards a direction of diversification and greater efficiency. Moving forward, the development of CFB technology should concentrate on pivotal areas such as material science, fluid dynamics simulation, environmental impact assessment, system integration, and intelligentization, to foster ongoing innovation and a broad application of the technology. This study presents a systematic review of the scholarly literature on Russia–Ukraine Propaganda on Social Media over the last ten years. This study performs a bibliometric analysis of articles published in the last ten years (2012–2022) and acquired from the Scopus database, followed by a brief content analysis of top articles from leading sources. Furthermore, the study aims to find gaps in the literature and identify the research area that could be developed in this context. VOSviewer application was used for data mining and data visualization from Microsoft Excel. Some interesting facts were found in the bibliometric analysis regarding research and other perspectives. Though the study was related to the propaganda of Russia and Ukraine, the USA is identified as the most attentive country in terms of research and publication on the topic. On the other hand, Russia published many articles regarding its own propaganda on social media. Full article

This study explores the role of local authorities in achieving net zero emissions in the context of the climate crisis, with a particular focus on the freight transport sector. The study identifies the challenges of decarbonising urban freight transport and highlights the need for planning frameworks to facilitate this transition. The authors examine freight innovation ecosystems and the various actors involved in designing public policies that incentivise the creation or enhancement of these ecosystems. Through a systematic literature review, bibliometric analysis, and content analysis, this study identifies a lack of connection between the literature on these topics. However, it also highlights the potential for lessons to be learned from successful incentive frameworks in the four clusters identified. The authors propose a comprehensive incentives framework that includes both direct and indirect incentives aimed at the ecosystem and the public sector, respectively, as well as city conditions that can facilitate systemic change. Overall, this study provides valuable insights for policymakers and stakeholders seeking to promote sustainable transport and achieve net zero emissions. Full article

The geoscience knowledge graph (GeoKG) has gained worldwide attention due to its ability in the formal representation of spatiotemporal features and relationships of geoscience knowledge. Currently, a quantitative review of the state and trends in GeoKG is still scarce. Thus, a bibliometric analysis was performed in this study to fill the gap. Specifically, based on 294 research articles published from 2012 to 2023, we conducted analyses in terms of the (1) trends in publications and citations; (2) identification of the major papers, sources, researchers, institutions, and countries; (3) scientific collaboration analysis; and (4) detection of major research topics and tendencies. The results revealed that the interest in GeoKG research has rapidly increased after 2019 and is continually expanding. China is the most productive country in this field. Co-authorship analysis shows that inter-national and inter-institutional collaboration should be reinforced. Keyword analysis indicated that geoscience knowledge representation, information extraction, GeoKG construction, and GeoKG-based multi-source data integration were current hotspots. In addition, several important but currently neglected issues, such as the integration of Large Language Models, are highlighted. The findings of this review provide a systematic overview of the development of GeoKG and provide a valuable reference for future research. Full article

Sustainability principles are becoming an integral part of all aspects of business operations, including human resource management (HRM). Despite extensive research in the field of sustainability, there is a lack of focus on sustainable practices in the recruitment process. This article aims to identify opportunities for sustainable HRM with a focus on the recruitment of new employees in a company. The authors defined three research questions using the PICO method and subsequently applied PRISMA, bibliometric analysis, and content analysis methods to address them. The result is a proposal for a sustainable recruitment model, illustrated using the Milky Way Map framework. The model highlights the key areas of recruitment that need to be considered to achieve sustainable management of the recruitment process. The research emphasizes the importance of implementing a sustainable approach to recruitment. Information systems/information technology (IS/IT) plays a crucial role in optimizing recruitment processes and reducing negative environmental, social, and economic impacts. The implementation of the proposed model can bring benefits such as more efficient talent management, cost reduction, and enhanced sustainability. Full article

Artificial Intelligence (AI) technologies have been widely applied to tackle Coronavirus Disease 2019 (COVID-19) challenges, from diagnosis to prevention. Patents are a valuable source for understanding the AI technologies used in the COVID-19 context, allowing the identification of the current technological scenario, fields of application, and research, development, and innovation trends. This study aimed to analyze the global patent landscape of AI applications related to COVID-19. To do so, we analyzed AI-related COVID-19 patent metadata collected in the Derwent Innovations Index using systematic review, bibliometrics, and network analysis., Our results show diagnosis as the most frequent application field, followed by prevention. Deep Learning algorithms, such as Convolutional Neural Network (CNN), were predominantly used for diagnosis, while Machine Learning algorithms, such as Support Vector Machine (SVM), were mainly used for prevention. The most frequent International Patent Classification Codes were related to computing arrangements based on specific computational models, information, and communication technology for detecting, monitoring, or modeling epidemics or pandemics, and methods or arrangements for pattern recognition using electronic means. The most central algorithms of the two-mode network were CNN, SVM, and Random Forest (RF), while the most central application fields were diagnosis, prevention, and forecast. The most significant connection between algorithms and application fields occurred between CNN and diagnosis. Our findings contribute to a better understanding of the technological landscape involving AI and COVID-19, and we hope they can inform future research and development’s decision making and planning. Livelihood strategies are an effective response to survival risks and stress shocks. Agricultural residents engaged in agriculture, forestry, animal husbandry, and fishery, who are extremely dependent on natural resources, are vulnerable to various livelihood risks. Therefore, the livelihood strategies of agricultural residents are increasingly receiving attention from researchers around the world. However, research on the livelihood strategies of agricultural residents has not yet been systematically analyzed through bibliometrics. Our study was based on 1424 publications in the Web of Science Core Collection database (WoSCC) from 2014 to 2023 to analyze the development history, research hotspots, and trends in the field. Bibliometric analysis was conducted on publications, countries, institutions, authors, journals, and keywords, as well as cited journals and cited references using Excel and CiteSpace software. The number of publications has steadily increased and showed an upward trend. The United States and China were the countries with the most contributions, and Chinese institutions were more active. Cooperation between authors was relatively weak. Sustainability was one of the most productive and highly cited journals. The research hotspots mainly included the relationship between climate change and the livelihood strategies of agricultural residents, the relationship between the land and the livelihood strategies of agricultural residents, the sustainable development of livelihood strategies of agricultural residents, and the characteristics of livelihood strategies of agricultural residents. This is the first time that bibliometric and visual analyses have been conducted on the livelihood strategies of agricultural residents, which may further promote development of the field and lay a foundation for future research. Landslide is a typical geological disaster distributed in most countries worldwide. Due to long-term natural weathering and human engineering disturbances, the instability of landslides is prone to occur. Once monitoring and disposal methods are implemented inappropriately, they can lead to landslide hazards, seriously threatening the safety of people’s lives and property. For a long time, extensive research on landslide monitoring has been conducted from various countries, providing crucial technical support for reducing the incidence and severity of landslide hazards. However, considering the complex geological conditions of actual landslides and the direct impact of internal and external factors such as rainfall, storms, and earthquakes, the early warning accuracy of landslide hazards is still relatively low. Therefore, based on advanced research achievements, it is significant to carry out research on the current status and development trends of landslide monitoring technology. Based on the Web of Science core database, this study quantitatively analyzes the advanced research achievements in global landslide monitoring in the past decade using bibliometric analysis. A systematic analysis of landslide monitoring technology development is conducted according to each study’s publication time, keywords, and countries. On this basis, a multi-dimensional monitoring system for landslides was proposed, which utilizes the complementary advantages of multi-dimensional monitoring technology to achieve all-round, high-precision, and real-time monitoring of landslides. Finally, taking the Xinpu landslide in the Three Gorges Region of China as an example, a multi-source and multi-field-monitoring experiment was conducted. The application of landslide multi-field-monitoring technology provides an essential reference for monitoring, early warning, as well as the scientific prevention and control of landslide hazard. Green finance in the context of sustainable development sits within the broader discourse of environmental economics and sustainable finance. Their integration has become imperative in addressing global challenges, with the aims of understanding how financial mechanisms can be aligned with sustainability goals, investigating the role of green finance in promoting environmentally friendly investments, and fostering sustainable development. This bibliometric analysis explores the evolution, trends, and challenges in green finance research. It examines 436 articles published between 2016 and 2024, revealing insights into influential publications, authors, journals, institutions, and countries engaged in green finance for sustainability. The study identifies China, the UK, and Pakistan as leaders in research output and citation impact. Furthermore, it highlights the interdisciplinary nature of green finance, reflected in diverse publication outlets spanning environmental, social, and economic domains. The analysis underscores the increasing global interest in green finance, as evidenced by the growing citation rates over time. Key findings include the pivotal role of green finance in energy efficiency, renewable energy development, and the promotion of sustainable economic growth. Overall, this research provides valuable insights for policymakers, researchers, and practitioners, emphasizing the importance of interdisciplinary collaboration and continued research efforts in advancing sustainable finance agendas. Methane (CH4) emissions exert large effects on the global climate. Tree stems are vital sources of emissions in ecosystem CH4 budgets. This paper reviewed the number of publications, journals, authors, keywords, research hotspots, and challenges. A total of 990 articles from 2006 to 2022 were collected based on the Web of Science database. The intellectual base was analyzed using CiteSpace 6.3.1 and VOSviewer 1.6.20 softwares. The results illustrated a growing trend in the study of tree stem methane emissions. The United States was the most research-active country; however, the most active institution was the Chinese Academy of Sciences in China. The research on stem methane emission by Vincent Gauci, Katerina Machacova, Zhi-Ping Wang, Kazuhiko Terazawa, Kristofer R. Covey, and Sunitha R. Pangala has had a significant impact. Current research indicates that stem CH4 emissions significantly vary among different tree species and are influenced by leaf type, forest type, tree height, whether the trees are alive or dead, and other environmental conditions (such as soil water content, air temperature, CO2 fluxes, and specific density). Soil CH4 fluxes and production by methanogens in heartwood were the primary sources of tree stem methane. Some pectin or cellulose from trees may also be converted into methane. Moreover, methane can be produced and released during the decomposition of deadwood by basidiomycetes. Furthermore, there are some trends and challenges for the future: (1) distinguishing and quantifying emissions from various sources; (2) accurately assessing the impact of floods on methane emissions is crucial, as the water level is the main factor affecting CH4 emissions; and (3) addressing the limited understanding of the microbial mechanisms of methane production in different tree species and investigating how microbial communities affect the production and emission of methane is vital. These advances will contribute to the accurate assessment of methane emissions from global ecosystems. Full article

Global Trends in the Research and Development of Petrochemical Waste Gas from 1981 to 2022

As a highly energy-intensive and carbon-emitting industry with significant emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs), the petroleum and chemical industry is a major contributor to the global greenhouse effect and ozone layer destruction. Improper treatment of petrochemical waste gas (PWG) seriously harms human health and the natural environment. This study uses CiteSpace and VOSviewer to conduct a scientometric analysis of 1384 scholarly works on PWG and carbon sequestration published between 1981 and 2022, revealing the basic characteristics, knowledge base, research topic evolution, and research hotspots of the field. The results show the following: (1) In the early stages of the petrochemical industry, it was processed tail gas, plant leakage waste gas, and combustion flue gas that were investigated in PWG research. (2) Later, green environmental protection technology was widely studied in the field of PWG treatment, such as biotechnology, catalytic oxidation technology, membrane separation technology, etc., in order to achieve efficient, low energy consumption and low emissions of waste gas treatment, and the number of publications related to this topic has increased rapidly. In addition, researchers studied the internet of things and technology integration, such as the introduction of artificial intelligence, big data analysis, and other technologies, to improve the accuracy and efficiency of exhaust gas monitoring, control, and management. (3) The department has focused on how to reduce emissions by optimizing petrochemical process lines or improving energy efficiency. Emission reduction and low-carbon transition in the petrochemical industry will become the main trend in the future. Switching from renewable carbon to feedstock carbon derived from captured carbon dioxide, biomass, or recycled chemicals has become an attractive strategy to help curb emissions from the chemical industry. The results of our analysis can provide funding agencies and research groups with information to better understand the global trends and directions that have emerged in this field from 1981 to 2022 and serve as a reference for future research.
