The Office of Vital Statistics and Registry registers vital events and maintains the following vital records:

  • Birth records from 1923 to present
  • Marriage records from 1941 to present
  • Death records from 1941 to present
  • Domestic partnership records from 2004
  • Civil union records from 2007
  • Certificate of birth resulting in stillbirth from 1969
  • Adoption records - foreign and domestic

Women, Infants & Children (WIC)

WIC is a public health nutrition program that provides wholesome food, nutrition education and community support for eligible women who are pregnant and post-partum with infants and children up to five years old.

The New Jersey Department of Health (NJDOH) is alerting residents about potential exposures associated with a newly identified case of measles in a non-NJ resident who passed through New Jersey in transit while infectious. Individuals – especially parents, guardians, health care providers, and caregivers – are urged to be aware of the symptoms of this highly contagious virus and to stay up to date with the measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) shots.

NJDOH Proposes Amendments at N.J.A.C. 8:43G-1.2 and 4.1, Establishing Standards for Support Persons in Hospitals

The New Jersey Department of Health (Department) is proposing amendments to the Hospital Licensing Standards, at N.J.A.C. 8:43G-1.2 and 4.1, establishing standards governing a hospital patient’s right to be accompanied by a “support person” while in the hospital. The proposed amendments would define the term, “support person,” and establish, as a patient right, the right of a hospital patient to be accompanied by the patient’s designated support person throughout treatment, in areas where communication between hospital staff, professionals, and patients would normally take place.
