This is probably the most important step. You need a 1/8th drill bit for the sprue. It’s the perfect size and the drill bit can trap sand as it goes down instead of it pouring out the sides into your mold

I use a thing round file to make the vents. It’s fits perfectly in the vent channels provided by Craig daiblers casting flask.

This is not required but I think it’s a great tool for evenly pressing down the mold. It’s just a piece of flat steel.

Talc poweder so your mold doesn’t stick to the sand. You can also use corn starch

I use a metal shaping hammer to pound the sand. It’s the perfect size for the flask

You want to pack the sand as hard as you can. This will ensure you get as much detail from your mold as possible

I can use beach sand in 2 ways. 1 - create the mould entirely from sand (using approximately 1cup) 2 - sprinkle some sand in a mould made from delft clay (using approximately 1 teaspoon).
