The official PYTHIA news channel is pythia-news@cern.ch

To subscribe to this email list, you will need a CERN account, but a so-called lightweight account will do. Go to CERN egroups, search for pythia-news and click subscribe.

The main use of this list is to send out alerts and summaries whenever a new public version is released. Expect a handful such messages per year. There is no fixed schedule; new versions can appear either because a sufficient amount of changes have been accumulated over time, or because some crucial new feature or bug fix prompts action.
