Even though the cover of his 14th album depicts 66-year-old "King of Mallorca" Jürgen Drews as a kind of schlager-singing Jack Sparrow, Schlagerpirat features no pirate-themed music beyond the title of the song "(Hooray, Hooray, Hey Yo!) Ich Will Dein Pirat Sein" ("I Want to Be Your Pirate"). Instead, the album offers party and discofox schlager songs, including a re-recording of Drews' 2009 single "Ich Bau Dir ein Schloss" with Deutschland Sucht den Superstar contestant Norman Langen. Drews also teams up with Eastern Germany band Puhdys to cover their 1997 song "Hey, Wir Woll'n die Eisbärn Sehn," duets with Carmen Geiss (wife of millionaire Robert Geiss) on "Ne, Was is' das Schön," and offers guest spots for Lauren Francis ("Wir Mieten Venedig 2012") and Silvia Kaufmann ("Noch Eine Minute").
