Dans l’histoire du rap, certaines questions restent insondables. Comme celle de savoir quel est le meilleur album des Roots. Ce qui est certain, c’est que leur premier, Do You Want More?!!!??! (1995), revient fréquemment dans la shortlist aux côté de Things Fall Apart (1999), Phrenology (2002) ou Game Theory (2006). Avec ses airs de jam rap-jazz, sa construction brute et économe, il est l’illustration parfaite du groove de la formation, une base autour de laquelle une discographie entière a été construite. Composée essentiellement de remixs de la tracklist d’origine déjà publiés, cette savoureuse réédition deluxe* laisse entrevoir la manière dont les Roots, tout en cultivant sa singularité, savait être profondément ancré dans le son new-yorkais de son époque. Les versions de Proceed remixé par A.J. Shine ou celle de Silent Treatment par Kelo ajoutent des samples classiques de l’époque, un côté définitivement old school, tout en respectant l’intouchable batterie de Questlove, seul élément jamais travesti. Passionnant également d’entendre une autre version de Distortion To Static en freestyle et refrains scratchés, ou les nouveaux couplets et ad libs placés sur Lazy Afternoon. Elle est tirée des enregistrements originaux et comprend dix-huit titres bonus organisés par Questlove : certains encore jamais publiés et d'autres restés indisponibles en numérique jusque-là. L'édition vinyle de luxe 3LP comprend cinq titres bonus : Proceed II Feat. Roy Ayers, Proceed III, Proceed IV (AJ Shine Mix), Proceed V (Beatminerz Mix), ainsi que cinq remixes de Silent Treatment.
