Très attendu depuis que la mode des biopics s’est emparée d’Hollywood, le film mettant en scène l’ascension vers la gloire mondiale de l’icône jamaïcaine a été validé en tous points par la famille Marley, avec Kingsley Ben-Adir dans le rôle de Bob et le fils aîné Ziggy dans le rôle du producteur exécutif. Pour compléter l’opération, le label Tuff Gong a sorti une “BO” du film, qui fait évidemment défiler de nombreux hits de Bob Marley. Un disque qui ressemble à un Legend bis, avec les tubes éternels que sont Get Up Stand Up, I Shot the Sheriff, Natural Mystic, Is This Love ou Redemption Song.
On entend aussi la fameuse version de No Woman, No Cry au Rainbow Theatre de Londres le 4 juin 1977 – un concert exploité à l’occasion de deux rééditions en 2020 et 2022. Du film, on retrouve aussi So Jah S'eh et la version de War/No More Trouble, avec en backing vocals dans le rôle des I-Threes la nouvelle sensation du reggae jamaïcain Naomi Cowan, qui incarne Marcia Griffiths dans le film, et Anna-Sharé Blake, protégée de Protoje, qui joue Judy Mowatt. Et aux claviers de cette version, c’est Aston Barrett Junior, qui tient le rôle de son père, Family Man, légendaire bassiste, chef d’orchestre et compositeur lésé des Wailers, décédé le 3 février 2024 quelques jours avant la sortie de One Love, et dont l’immense carrière mériterait elle aussi un film. © Smaël Bouaici/Qobuz
