Ready is Ella Mai's third EP in two years for DJ Mustard's Interscope-affiliated 10 Summers label. The singer and songwriter continues to work closely with Mustard, who is involved on the six well-defined tracks here, all of which are either slow jams or ballads with strong mid-'80s to early-'90s R&B references. Highlights include "Boo'd Up," a sleeper hit that reached the Top 20 of the Billboard Hot 100, and the airy "Breakfast in Bed."
