A far more complex musician than he may appear, Pat Metheny surprises with each new stage of his impressive, multi-album career. Although sometimes lumped in under the genre of the multi-faceted fusion of his early days (the hugely popular Pat Metheny Group), the Missouri guitarist has long been moulding and adapting his style. Both acoustically and alongside players on the free music scene, his truly unique guitar playing binds his many escapades together. Even on ECM, between 1975 and 1984, Pat Metheny dared to try almost anything! Although these were his first years on the international scene, he was already alternating between pure jazz performed in small groups and the more complex compositions of the Pat Metheny Group. Be-bop, fusion, rock, pop, country, world and classical music all feed the melodies of this true musical chameleon. FR: Musicien bien plus complexe qu’il n’y parait, Pat Metheny surprend à chaque nouvelle étape de son impressionnante carrière riche de nombreux albums. On voulut encager le guitariste du Missouri dans la fusion plurielle de ses débuts (le très populaire Pat Metheny Group) qu’il plastiquait ses propres conventions aussi bien en acoustique qu’aux côtés d’acteurs de la scène free. Mais c’est sa voix, ce phrasé guitaristique unique, qui lie ces escapades plurielles. Même chez ECM, entre 1975 et 1984, Pat Metheny a tout osé ! Ce furent pourtant ses premières années sur le devant de la scène internationale, mais déjà il alternait entre le jazz pur interprétés en petites formations et les compositions plus complexes de son fameux Group. Be-bop, fusion, rock, pop, country, world et musique classique, tout nourrit le jeu one ne peut plus mélodique de ce coloriste majeur. Embora às vezes seja incluído no gênero de fusão multifacetada de seus primeiros dias (o extremamente popular Pat Metheny Group), o guitarrista do Missouri vem moldando e adaptando seu estilo há muito tempo. Tanto em música acústica quanto ao lado de músicos do cenário da música livre, seu toque de guitarra verdadeiramente único une suas muitas aventuras. Mesmo na ECM, entre 1975 e 1984, Pat Metheny ousou experimentar quase tudo! Embora esses tenham sido seus primeiros anos no cenário internacional, ele já alternava entre o jazz puro apresentado em pequenos grupos e as composições mais complexas do Pat Metheny Group. Be-bop, fusion, rock, pop, country, world e música clássica alimentam as melodias desse verdadeiro camaleão musical. IT: Pat Metheny è un musicista assai più complesso di quanto non appaia: riesce a sorprendere ad ogni nuova tappa della sua impressionante carriera, costellata di numerosi album. Alcuni nostalgici estimatori vorrebbero che il chitarrista del Missouri si fosse relegato alla sola fusion (quella multiforme dei suoi esordi, il popolarissimo Pat Metheny Group), che ha suggellato le sue convenzioni sia in acustico che accanto ai protagonisti della scena musicale free. Ma sono la sua voce, il suo fraseggio chitarristico unico, a legare insieme tutte le sue diverse escursioni stilistiche. Anche su ECM, tra il 1975 e il 1984, Pat Metheny osò di tutto! Erano i suoi primi anni sulla scena internazionale, ma già alternava jazz puro (eseguito con piccole formazioni) a composizioni più complesse del suo Pat Metheny Group. Sono soprattutto il be-bop, la fusion, il rock, il pop, il country, la world music e la musica classica a confluire nell'interpretazione melodica di questo grande artista. ES: Músico mucho más complejo de lo que parece, Pat Metheny sorprende en cada nueva etapa de su impresionante carrera, salpicada de numerosos álbumes. A algunos les gustaría confinar al guitarrista de Missouri a la polifacética fusión de sus inicios (el popularísimo Pat Metheny Group), en que moldeó sus propias convenciones tanto en acústico como junto a músicos de la escena de la música libre. Pero es su voz, su fraseo de guitarra único, lo que une todas estas fugas diferentes. Incluso en ECM, entre 1975 y 1984, Pat Metheny se atrevió con todo. Eran sus primeros años en la escena internacional, pero ya alternaba el jazz puro interpretado en pequeños grupos con las composiciones más complejas de su famoso grupo.
