Isaiah Rashad takes his time over things: that's just his way. His second album, The House Is Burning, appeared five years after The Sun's Tirade, his debut album which shook up the world of rap. However, he was a man beset with demons. Alcohol, drugs and addictions prevented him from fully realising his talent. So when he finally made himself heard, it truly meant something. The House Is Burning is proof that this artist can handle the different sub-genres of rap brilliantly, whether that means the full-throated trap sound on From The Garden, or the much smoother approach he takes to great effect on tracks like Score (featuring SZA and 6BLACK) or RIP Young. At the controls, there's a gallery of beatmakers headed by Kal Banks, and Memphis champion Duke Deuce and Amindi rub shoulders on the magnificent track All Herb. This powerful colt in the TDE stable finds his freedom with the help of R'n'B vibes; he denounces police violence on Don't Shoot, and ultimately his technique speaks for itself.
