Fergus James

The deftly executed modern pop of New South Wales singer/songwriter Fergus James hit the Australian airwaves and charts with the release of his debut single, "Golden Age." Hailing from the small country town of Armidale, NSW, James grew up on a wide range of music, from Dire Straits to Bruce Springsteen, yet developed a penchant for the fingerpicking folk of artists such as Bon Iver and Passenger. With his parents realizing his talent, James enrolled at the Newtown High School of Performing Arts in Sydney in 2016. While there, he performed an original song in front of Justin Timberlake, and a video of the pop star's response to his music subsequently went viral. As a result, James graduated from school with the music industry ready to sign him. At the beginning of 2018, he released his debut single, "Golden Age," with support from national station Triple J, and the track amassed numerous plays and hit the charts. Support slots for Ed Sheeran's Australian tour followed, and James issued his second single, "What Are We Waiting For," later that year.
