Explains the purpose of the procedure and precautions to the client. 7. Set up the oxygen equipment. Connect the flow meter to the source of oxygen. Attach and fill the humidifier with water. 8. Connects the tubing to the oxygen. 9. Adjusts the flow to an amount appropriate for the clients condition. 10. Applies the oxygen delivery device to the client. 11. Adjusts the fit of the cannula or mask for comfort and to avoid leaking. 12. Posts signs indicating oxygen use and precaution. 13. Observe the clients immediate response. 14. Provides the client with a signal device. 15. Washes hands. 16. Charts significant information. 17. Returns to obtain re-assessment data. 18. Refills humidifier and water as needed.
