    YOUVE FINISHED A WIDER READING TEXT, APPLY THESE QUESTIONS TO IT AND ARCHIVE YOUR RESPONSES IN YOUR LOVE JOURNALS

    1. What kind of text is this? 2. When was this text written? 3. What is the subject matter?

    4. Who is speaking and how does the writer use the idea of voice in the text? 5. How does the writer use setting(s)? 6. How does the writer use ideas of time? 7. How does the writer structure, organize and develop the ideas in the text? 8. Is there anything distinctive in the way the text is written? (structure, choices of vocabulary, sentence structures, variations in pace) 9. Are there any patterns, repetitions of key ideas or images, uses of contrast? 10. What kinds of language are used? (formal, informal, descriptive, dialogue and so on) 11. How has finding out more about the references and allusions in the text added to my understanding and interpretation? 12. 13. 14.

    Is the language all the same or does the writer use contrast? What is the tone of the text? What might be the writers purpose(s) in this text?
