SR-138 Capacity Enhancements

State Route (SR) 138 carries heavy vehicle tra;c including a significant percentage of trucks. This route is being used as a by-pass for recreation vehicles and heavy trucks coming from the north and going to Las Vegas, Barstow, Victorville, San Bernardino County and Riverside County to avoid congestion in the Los Angeles metropolitan area.

Project Status
> Environmetal clearance will initiate Fall 2012 between I-5 and SR-14. > Environmental clearance has been completed.

Project Description
The SR-138 Corridor will be environmentally cleared between I-5 near Gorman and SR-14 in Lancaster and widened from Avenue T in the City of Palmdale to the junction of SR-18 in Llano just east of 196th St., a distance of 54 miles. The

This project is being funded through Regional Surface Transportation Program, Regional Improvement Program Interregional Improvement Program and Measure R.
