MATERIALS 640-131 Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick Yarn: Grass 1 1, 2 Ball (A) 640-106 Lion Brand Wool-Ease Thick & Quick Yarn: Sky Blue 1 1, 2 Ball (B) Brittany Birchwood Double Pointed Needles - Size 13 Lion Brand Split Ring Stitch Markers Large-Eye Blunt Needles (Set of 6) Additional Materials MATERIALS NOTE Materials are sufficient to make two pair of socks, one pair with A as main color (MC) and B as contrast color (CC) and one pair with B as MC and A as CC.

GAUGE:

8 sts + 10 rows = 4 in. (10 cm) in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd). BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE. When you match the gauge in a pattern, your project will be the size specified in the pattern and the materials specified in the pattern will be sufficient. If it takes you fewer stitches and rows to make a 4 in. [10 cm] square, try using a smaller size hook or needles; if more stitches and rows, try a larger size hook or needles.
STITCH EXPLANATION: PATTERN STITCHES K1, p1 Rib worked in rnds (multiple of 2 sts) Rnd 1: *K1, p1; rep from * to end of rnd. Rep Rnd 1 for K1, p1 Rib worked in rnds. NOTES:

1. When knitting in the round on dpn, your sts do need to be divided fairly evenly onto the needles. If you are working with a set of 4 dpn, your sts should be divided among 3 needles. The total number of sts will not always be evenly divisible by the number of dpns that you are using this is not a problem! Simply divide your sts as evenly as possible, you will still create a symmetrical tube of knitting. 2. Only 4 dpns were used in this project. If you prefer to use 5 dpns, redistribute the sts on the needles, following #1 above.

SOCKS With CC and double pointed needles (dpns), cast on 16 (20, 24) sts; divide onto 3 dpns as follows: For size S, put 5 sts onto the first dpn, 5 sts onto the second dpn and 6 sts onto the third dpn. For size M, put 7 sts onto the first dpn, 7 sts onto the second dpn and 6 sts onto the third dpn. For size L, put 8 sts onto each of the three dpn. Place marker for beg of rnd and join by working the first st on left handle needle with the yarn from the right hand needle and being careful not to twist sts. Work in K 1, p1 Rib worked in rnds for 4 (4, 5) rnds. Change to MC. Work in St st (k every rnd) until piece measures about 5 1/2 in. (14 cm) from beg. Heel Flap Note: Heel flap is worked back and forth in rows over 8 (10, 12) sts. Leave rem sts unworked on dpn for top of foot (instep). Row 1 (WS): P8 (10, 12) sts. Row 2 (RS): K8 (10, 12) sts. Rep last 2 rows 1 (2, 3) more times. Rep Row 1 once more. Turn Heel Note: To turn (shape) the heel, short rows are worked over the 8 (10, 12) heel flap sts. Short rows are rows that are worked over a portion of the sts in a row. To work short rows, the instructions will tell you to 'turn' before you reach the end of the row. When you turn, you will leave the rem sts unworked. Row 1 (RS): K 4 (5, 6), k2tog, k1, turn. Row 2: P2, p2tog, p1, turn. Row 3: K3, k2tog, k 0 (1, 1), turn. Row 4: P3 (4, 4), p2tog, p 0 (1, 1), turn. Sizes M and L only Row 5: K5, k2tog, turn. Row 6: P5, p2tog, turn. All Sizes Next Row: K 4 (6, 6) sts. Heel Gusset Next Rnd (RS): With first dpn (the dpn with 4 (6, 6) heel sts on it) pick up and k 6 (8, 10) sts evenly spaced along the side of the heel flap; with second dpn, k 8 (10, 12) top of foot (instep) sts; with third dpn, pick up and k 6 (8, 10) sts evenly spaced along the side of heel flap; k across 2 (3, 3) sts on first dpn, place new marker for beg of rnd - 24 (32, 38) sts at the end of this rnd. Next Rnd (Decrease Rnd): K to last 3 sts on first dpn, k2tog, k1, k across sts on second dpn, on third dpn, k1,

ssk, k to end of rnd. Rep this Decrease Rnd 2 more times. Next Rnd: Knit. Next Rnd: Rep Decrease Rnd. Rep last 2 rnds 0 (2, 3) more times - 16 (20, 24) sts rem at the end of last dec rnd. Knit until Sock measures about about 2 in. (5 cm) less than desired length from back of heel to toe. Shape Toe Change to CC and k 1 rnd. Next Rnd (Decrease Rnd): On first dpn, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1; on second dpn k1, k2tog, k to last 3 sts, ssk, k1; on third dpn, k1, k2tog, k to end. Knit 2 rnds even (knit even means to knit without changing the number of sts by increasing or decreasing). Rep Decrease Rnd once. Knit 1 rnd even. Rep last 2 rnds until 8 sts rem. Cut yarn, leaving 10 in. (15 cm) yarn tail. Thread into needle through rem sts. Draw up yarn tightly and secure. FINISHING Weave in ends.
