THE INTERNET, A BLESSING OR A CURSE FOR THE MILLENIAL GENERATION?

It has been asserted that the Internet has proved its worth. Over the past decades, the Internet has consistently preceded in everything around us, from what we see daily while passing the streets, at the vendor, even to the confines of our very homes, the Internet is ever present in our lives. However, every rainbow has an end and this particular ones end is self- evident through the several controversies that have been established over the evident negativity or positivity of its usage. Most people still wonder whether the saturation of the Internet and its devices in the mind is really advantageous or if the Internets scale is either tipped towards its nebulous curses or favour. The fact that the Internet is the vastest medium of communication is indisputable. There is no doubt that over the past decades, the Internet has rapidly dominated most of our social lives through its media and advanced communication technologies. It is obvious that the internet is now the domineering medium in communication technologies. Its advancement in several webs and its variety boosts its importance beyond belief. Regardless of the fact that certain age groups mostly use the Internet, it holds no restriction to what age may be required access. On this note, it is important to note the fact that diverse age groups for several reasons use the Internet. Social media, blogs, media upload sites, are just a little portion of what the gargantuan scale of the Internet entails. Since the creation of Internet, communication has taken a whirlwind for the betterment of mans communication. It has become so easy that just at the push of a button or two, a message can be sent within a second, there is no longer much need for oral communication and speeches. Distance also is no longer an issue to toil over, in addition to the phones used in calling; the Internet has also aided in curtailing this predicament. Besides, who would travel 60 miles to say a couple of sentences when one can just push a couple of buttons to get the deed done? It is preposterous to think that the Internet does not have its adversities in communication. If one notices the outset of the aggregate population of the world, it is almost like more than half of its percentage has become relaxed and lackadaisical since the invention of the Internet. Imagine the internet like a great ball of communication that is so tangled, it limits personal interactions and restricts proper use of

Dwelling on the present state of mans environment today, it is notable that our general verbal communication has fallen tremendously to the stage that it now dawdles over the tip of oblivion. So far, this ignorance has continued to rise and only few people perceive this advert degradation of our native communication since the innovation of the internet. For this reason, these people contradict the possibility of the internets prominence. The abasement of our true oral native means of communication has increased in recent years. Newer generations continue to be more oblivious to personal interactions and more aware of the Internet. Born and bred from earlier ages children are introduced to the Internet and because of this, they become ignorant. They are exposed to Internet at early ages and are deprived of oral communication and because of this we find that good oral structures dwindles at the post of degradation. This deterioration and breakdown of our communication, speaking and structural skills in English has brought about a retrograde movement away from the level to which most great heroes have struggled to attain. Picture a world without internet, what would come to your mind, well if I were to imagine a world without internet the first thing that would define this loss for me would be the loss of a means through which I can research and find information. On this note, it is conscious to say that the Internet is like a weapon of information. Information is so rampant on the Internet even to the extent it has become quite riotous. It encompasses of several arrays of different kinds of information required by a user. The Internet being the bane of our civilization today is what enables us to carry out research on certain topics and required information. The Internet might provide users with required information but it is paramount to see that he it like other machines made by man is not a hundred percent perfect and can never attain such height. On the Internet, for information to be gotten, one would have to rummage through a handful of websites to get what one requires. Considerably, it is contradictory that the Internet also provides false information and rumours if it is meant to be the source of accurate information. It is evident that the Internet has become a tool for mass destruction, which can inevitably spread lies. It is now the widest means through which gossip information is spread about to people. In this reference, the Internet can be found even now packed with detailed

versions of flawed and distorted stories. The falsification of information is not only limited to gossip and rumours; it has spread to even certain information about phenomenon topics. For instance, the theory of light alone can be denoted in such a way on the Internet it becomes hard for the user to decipher between the theory, the observation and the fraudulent lies. These all boils down to the fact that the internet is an open source through which any one can develop a web site, blog or page. Its flexibility proves to be one of its downfalls since criminals, fraudsters and even terrorists are allowed exposure to the immense scale of its vastness to users globally bearing in mind that it can be used by anyone, terrorists and criminals included. Most countries, especially those in the third world are over populated. The Internet has aided in this predicament of unemployment by providing job opportunities. For instance, Google, a globally realized web search recently offers jobs to single mothers and independent mothers who have skills to work on certain sectors in the company. This example is a typical illustration, the Internet also provides by creating job opportunities for people such as bloggers, on-line tutors etc. Even business transactions occur over the web. With the use of Internet connections, financial transactions are made simplistic. However, the Internet has also paved a path and way for tyrannical occurrences and events. It is now the bane of the jutting criminal rate increase in most countries. Through the Internet these miscreants carry out their fraudulent activities, aiding and abetting, cyber bullying and several more. The Internet is the cause for how the creation of viruses, malwares, hackers, spams, phishing and pharming where established. Being the fountainhead of world globalization, we can come to a realization that the Internet is what makes the world what it is today. Reference to the world as a global village interconnects with the Internet as the foundation through which globalization was enabled occurrence. The level of technology man has been able to attain so far, falls bulkily on the shoulders of the Internet. The Internet is a support for most marketing sectors globally; it contributes immensely to the upheaval of advertisements and marketing. Its global nature enhances advertising and marketing of certain products. If the Internet where to be opened presently, adverts are always present, it is for its diverse nature of it s use that the Internet has become a profitable means of advertising.

The Internet too like a two-sided coin has its adverse effect to which the information pertains. Not only has the Internet recently been found used to carry out several malicious acts, it also sometimes hamper the information needed. Based on research, it can be proven that the internet is a major tool used by hackers, cyber bullies, con artists and other criminals, apparently the internet doesnt only make doing good things easier, but increases the possibilities of crime by opening the horizons to different ways crime can be permuted. It is notable to see that the internets miscellaneous nature can be curse and a blessing. there is nothing in the world that does not have its disadvantages, what makes the difference between the good and bad is the ability of the merits to the aspect to overshadow the malfunctions. That is why on this note, although the internet has certain unlikely sectors mot would rather not dwell on it is still notable that the internet has proved too good to be a curse. Rather it has proved a blessing for the millennia century, at this rate we are going it is evident that most things in the near future will be Internet based. So what deciphers the internet as either good or bad, negative or positive is to which what the user makes use of it. The internet has adhered to more than half of mans technological history, therefore it can not before gone rather, the internet can be built to support and enhance its advantages so as deteriorate its after effects.
