Parliamentary Elections

1. Electoral System According to Article 66 of the Constitution, the electoral laws must be in compliance with the principles of fair representation and administrative stability. Since the beginning of the multi-party system in 1946, different electoral systems have been adopted. Parliamentary elections are held every four years. Currently, a system of proportional representation with a national threshold of 10% is valid. Accordingly, political parties that cannot obtain more than 10% of valid votes throughout the country cannot win seat(s) in the Assembly. Parliamentary elections shall be held in accordance with the principles of a general and secret vote and open counting. The parliamentary election shall start on the first day of a period of 90 days before the voting date.
