ASSAULT by AUTO/DWI

On July 13, 2013 at 12:32 AM, the Morris Township Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the area of Whippany Rd. and Lindsley Dr. on a reported car fire. Upon arrival, patrols found a 2011 Chrysler 200 upside down with significant damage near a residential structure. What fire had existed was out as were the four occupants of the vehicle. Investigation determined that the driver of the vehicle was Guadalupe M. Prieto of Monteray, Mexico. She
had been operating a family members vehicle west bound on Columbia Rd. where she failed to negotiate a curve in the road. After riding over several cement islands, the vehicle overturned coming to rest on its roof on the property of 1 Whippany Rd. All of the occupants in the vehicle suffered minor injuries which consisted of lacerations and complaint of pain. The injured parties refused the medical services of the Morris Minute Men First Aid Squad who had responded to the scene.

Ms. Prieto was arrested on suspicion of DWI and was charged with three counts of fourth degree Assault by Auto. She was also charged with reckless driving and failure to maintain a lane. All summonses and complaints were issued pending an appearance in court. To guarantee that appearance, the court ordered the defendant to surrender her passport. The Morris Township Police Departments Traffic Safety Bureau was assisted in the investigation by the Morris County Sheriffs Depts Special Services Division.
